Yet another Deano story...

Post by Mork » Sat Nov 12, 2005 8:23 am

Deano on Premiership link

Dean Bowditch admits reported interest in him from the Premiership has given him a boost but his only priority at the moment is Town - and scoring goals.

The England U19 international has been linked with a £1m move to West Ham in the January transfer window and Blues boss Joe Royle has confirmed the London club did make an initial enquiry although there has been no further contact.

Although flattered by the reported interest, Dean is more concerned with breaking his goal duck for Town this season, telling the Club website: "Ipswich is all that matters to me at the moment.

Deano - Hammers link

"Yes it does give you a bit of a boost when another club like West Ham, who are doing so well in the Premiership, show an interest in you.

"It's nice to hear but I'm certainly not looking too deep into it. I just want to get my head down and work hard for this Club and hopefully start scoring goals
"I believe we have the players here to get the Club into the Play-Off places and I'm determined to play my part."
This is all following a very similar pattern - Club and player deny any interest in a potential move to Premiership club, then Club Site manages to invent a story on a weekly basis to ensure the story doesn't go away.

Its almost as if the club is advertising to try and keep West Ham interested.

Personally, would prefer Deano to go, brings us nothing, and the money would be welcomed, but the clubs approach seems a little deceitful - makes a big deal of telling its fans nothing is happening, but meanwhile uses its marketing muscle to keep the story alive and try and bring in bidders.

well its laughable that Dean Bowditch thinks he's even capable of getting into the west ham first team squad anyway !...who the hell does he think he is - arrogant little sod ought to try and knuckle down at ITFC - he cant even hold down a first team place with us !

At what point did he say he thinks he's capable of breaking into the first-team squad? :?

I think people should lay off the lad a little bit, yes he doesn't put in 100% effort and hasn'tt been scoring, but we shouldn't be too hasty, it really would be a shame if we were to force him out and then prove us wrong by doing brilliantly in the Premiership, which as he has shown in glimpses before, he IS capable of.

so why would he be keen to go to west ham then ?...to sit on their bench or play in their reserves ? I know he hasnt actually said he thinks he's capable...but it's not always what you say- but more what you dont say. I'm also given to understand that the lad is not exactly "Mr Popular" with the older more established players at PR either....why would that be I wonder ?...misplaced arrogance perhaps?

Money, fame, rich boy life style? Seem more important to Bowditch than playing decent football as it is.

Why do you think he'd be keen to go their club? Premiership club and not looking out of place up their by any means either, there's many reasons why he'd want to move to West Ham, but as he said in the interview, NOT YET. He's saying he'd rather show himself at Ipswich before moving on, so the lads said nothing wrong.

He's hardly gonna say "No, I'm not good enough, look at other players instead of me" FFS!

So you believe what these "loyal" professional footballers say then do you ? They are all full of crap IMHO - believe them if you wish. Of course Deano 's going to make all the right noises. But I no longer buy this - "I want to stay and make it with Ipswich" crap Ive seen it too many times now , where these players will leave if the offer is right for them. Just ask Makin, Davis , Miller, Holland, Ambrose etc etc etc

But as long as they give a 100% when wearing the Blue shirt of Ipswich and operative as "part of the squad" thats all I ask.

Deano IS a fine "prospect"and I would love him to make it with us - but I doubt he will, just dont give us all that crap about wanting to prove himself with us first.

It's also no coincidence to my mind that his form has been slightly improved since WHU interest in him - but this has all been seen before with Darren Bent..and we all know what happened when Town said they would not sell him - Benty's form nose dived.

Time will tell. But Deanos form generally has been unconvincing for some time now - how much "time" can Town afford to give him ?
