I guess it would help us if we wanted to spend money and try to buy our way into the Premier League like Leicester and QPR did, but I'm not convinced we do or even should. Notts Forest have tried to do it this season but so far it doesn't seem to be working.

At the moment I'm quite happy with the way Mick McCarthy is slowly building a solid squad on sound foundations, and I have a feeling that he will bring success to our Football Club. Whether or not it will be sustainable will be something else, and maybe when it happens will be the time for big investment.

I agree with what Charny says.

I am very happy with the way our club is finally being run, it has taken a few seasons but we are a credible set up again both on and off the pitch and in any case if anyone has proved you dont need to p*ss away millions on players to still have a good crack at the Championship it is ITFC, just look at our friends up the road, while it still may come good for them they are hardly ahead of us in any respect are they, bigger crowds maybe but where has the great set of accounts and spending power got them so far ?

Interesting change of name for a scheme that was/is anything but Fair Play, in terms of narrowing the PL/Championship divide; but of course TV loot and parachute payments also slew horribly the whole kit and caboodle! I believe that FFP is as much about soccer politics and public perception, than it is as an effective mechanism for safeguarding the financial well-being of non-PL clubs.

Will Leicester and QPR be called to account for their actions which, ironically, whilst getting them into the PL, isn't helping them much now? But it isn't just about money, as many a Chairman must be thinking when looking at what MM is achieving here. (Something of a niggling worry, perhaps).

FFP changes notwithstanding, Ian Milne has stated on numerous occasions that the days of big-money signings have gone - at least for the immediate future. We just need to remain steady, prudent but determined, and continue to progress on the course we're on. Realistically there's no other sensible option, without jeopardising seriously, perhaps terminally, the club's future.

Genuinely don't fully understand what will happen if the club do make the EPL either by automatic promo or the play offs......., will there be a serious cash injection so that the club can make a decent showing of themselves? Or will they be the whipping boys, making 4 or 5 "Super Sunday" appearances, but in front of a dwindling support? Is there a financial plan in place for the eventualities of EPL football? Can't be a case of "cross that bridge when we come to it!" surely? (Cue Airplane! quote)
