Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
Could anyone really confirm 100% that Norwich have come through their blip? They've only won one in their last 3 and that was at home to Blackpool. Next few will determine if they are serious, (Gary Hooper finding his shooting boots will help them.)
I think I'm in the same frame of mind as J4CK though, in the sense that you really can't forget about what has already been done. Yes it's in the past, but it's that past that has put the club in contention with the same players as the present. The same pool of players need some kind of confidence injection, (along with Tommy Smith being dropped).
If the truth were known, they probably played the 180 minutes of football against Southampton and thought, "Fk this, we will get murdered in the EPL playing this type of quality week in, week out, " and it's knocked the stuffing out of them.

They CAN'T be physically tired. The entire league is in the same boat, physically.

Their slump was long before ours, we can still recover and to me it has nothing to do with new signings.ashfordblue wrote:J4ck22 wrote:Oh right, so we're just going to completely forget about the good results we've had and just focus on the 3 or so bad results that we've had in the last couple of weeks? Brilliant logic. 2 weeks ago everyone was laughing at Norwich for over reacting and now you're all doing the same bloody thing. Jesus christ opinions change quickly.Charnwood wrote:
J4ck, you must just be kidding yourself, or failing to face up to the truth. Yesterday's team aren't capable of anything better than a mid-table finish. Our squad is about five or six players light compared with the teams we're competing with for promotion and our squad just isn't big enough to keep things fresh and unpredictable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is something a little worse than a rough patch. Yes it can be fixed but it will need a couple of new faces and they will have to be better than we already have, not just numbers.
Ah but the difference here is the scum did something about it in the transfer window, and they have come through their blip
They bought players because they can. We can't.

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
I must admit I am firmly in the jack & marko camp, I think all this bringing in a few new players cus of a couiple of bad results is bull if I am honest, this group of players went 23 games with 1 defeat, I also don't believe they are tired, they have merely lost a bit of confidence and 3 or 4 of the main men have lost a bit of form, it is very fine margins and I will repeat it for the 100th time, we lost to derby thanks in no small part to the ref who f****d it up on Two big occasions, this was then compounded by Smith doing what he does best and buggers up a bouncing ball in true schoolboy tradition, nothing to do with being outplayed, or found out, it was circumstances, on the day we matched them in every department. Yes we were beaten at Brighton, it took 2 cracking goals to beat us and they won fair and square, no great disgrace in that one. To me Wigan and Rotherham were poor performances, no getting away from that but we still ground out a point against Wigan, Rotherham was one of those days where you can make no excuses for the defeat. So for me it is a blip still, not the crisis some would have us believe and tomorrow night should we win and there is a positive result either way for Derby or Bournemouth we will be a whopping Three points behind one of those two teams who by all accounts are already up !!! I know you are often only as good as the last game but to dismiss the 23 game run and focus on Three poor results is rather silly in my book.
As for Norwich, why are we so worried about them ? Despite our sudden demise we are still Four points ahead of them, lets see how they get on in the coming games against Wolves Watford Blackburn & ourselves. Are we jealous now of a signing from Hamilton Academicals ?

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
Something of a no-brainier - if MM can bring in players who are better than what we have and who will improve the squad's strength and quality, at a price the club can afford, then he would/should surely do it. However, getting those two parts of the equation to balance is the tricky bit!
At what point, therefore, does he acknowledge that he needs to do it? He's already on recent record saying that he would take JW back 'like a shot', so there's a clue. If we get nothing from the next two games does the blip become more serious? Might it suggest that our squad of hard-working, tight knit but in the main average, Championship players, have over-achieved; or that MM's tactics and team set-ups have been worked out by opposition managers, who manage to motivate their own sometimes struggling teams to punch above their weight against us?
On the face of it, some serious stuff. Great thing is, though, a win tomorrow will render most of it total bollocks!

Regardless of what we all think I'm sure the one thing we'd all enjoy is 3 points tomorrow night.

Well if the players aren't tired, then they've just been sh*t then. Is that a fair assumption? One point from Brighton, Wigan and Rotheram is either tired or sh*t in my book! What will we say if we lose against Wednesday? The blip continues? Regardless of anyone's opinion we have to take points from the lower teams because it's beginning to look like we're out-classed by the teams around us. I just want Ipswich to get promoted FFS! Whatever the problem...fix it MM!

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
That's everyones objective on these pages but you have to ask yourselves is it really going to occur this time. And furthermore we don't know specifically what the problem is. Lack of confidence ? Not enough belief or determination ? I can't figure it out and things were going so well up to a point also. I don't see how the players can be tired or fatigued either. Early elimination from both cup competitions so we can't use that as an excuse. Somebody needs a kick in the as* to relaunch our season but the issue is greater than just one individual alone. Hopefully the attacking players can find their touch once more and McCarthy can get things running like before. We're still in a very good position but this recent decline needs to be eradicated fast before we find ourselves too far adrift.number 9 wrote:Well if the players aren't tired, then they've just been sh*t then. He(McCarthy) admits that players can suffer from fatigue with matches coming thick and fast in the Championship: “It’s always a worry, it’s always a concern, but you get used to it. We’ve got pretty battle-hardened players."
That sounds fair enough. Right, lets move on...COYBs!!

Re: Rotherham United vs Ipswich Town Match Preview
I think you do some of these teams an injsutice, just because the underdog wins a game of football does not automnatically make us sh*te. We have no divine right to beat anyone, especially when they are fighting for their lives. Cast your mind back to when MM first walked into Portman Road and we were rock bottom and a laughing stock, suddenly it was us that started beating teams who were much higher and who probably thought we are playing Ipswich this week, easy three points, so you see nothing is a formality, especially in this crazy league, yes we have lost three games that by looking at the the league table we probably should not be losing but sometimes that is only half the story.number 9 wrote:Well if the players aren't tired, then they've just been sh*t then.
