HELP
My ST renewals have arrived and for the first time in over 25years i am in doubt as what to do,i really do find the style of football depressing,no quality and just kicking a ball forward without looking ,tuesday night was a dreadful show of poor football, some of the panic passing was unbearable.Even if your told just to lump it upfield when under no pressure why would you do it,these players are better than this surely. Is it me or are others thinking this way?

Depends on how often you will be able to attend and how much your heart's in it. The game's only a short ride out of Liverpool Street... You say 25 years but in that time we've had some very poor teams so if you were willing to purchase then, you may as well go on as you mean to continue.eastlondonblue wrote:My ST renewals have arrived and for the first time in over 25years i am in doubt as what to do,i really do find the style of football depressing,no quality and just kicking a ball forward without looking ,tuesday night was a dreadful show of poor football, some of the panic passing was unbearable.Even if your told just to lump it upfield when under no pressure why would you do it,these players are better than this surely. Is it me or are others thinking this way?
I'm sticking with McCarthy for another year despite minority calls for his departure and there's still a way to go in this season. Say for arguments sake we continue to see lackluster performances and unsatisfactory results for the most part of the remainder of the season then perhaps some will be convinced to give any renewals a miss, but it's all really up to the individuals concerned.
Best case scenario, Wait until the end of season, evaluate the situation then and where we find ourselves - and then make a decision. Only you will know what's the right thing.

yes i have seen some poor teams but in those days your expectations were lower plus the players played to the best of their ability im unconvinced this is the case presently.

You need to ask yourself what else am I going to do on a Saturday?
If you are married the wife will find you lots and lots to do .
Stick to PR MM and TC are going in the right direction with very little money .
Next season ME will splash some cash hopefully.

I think East London Blue will go ahead anyway and renew. Despite the recent disappointing run it's been for the most part the best season here in 10 years and while McCarthy isn't for everyone and he has proved frustrating at times we can take the good work of what we have thus far achieved into next season and see what it brings. (Once again) If he's been prepared to tolerate some of the garbage we have been witness to in 25 years then there seems no harm in sticking it out a bit further. Made some real progress in the last 12 months and prepared to keep faith that little while longer.

ME has had his fingers burnt twice so he is being frugal now , with all the debt the club still has too we would have gone under by now it's only because the debt is to him that we have not so we have him for saving us .

Re: HELP
In my opinion if ME has any plans to splash any cash on ITFC and have a reasonable expectation of getting a quick return on his money, he should have done it in January when we were in a strong position in the table with a good chance of promotion. This would have been a much sounder investment than spending in the summer when we're joint top/bottom of the table on zero points with 23 other teams.BLUEBLOOD wrote:You need to ask yourself what else am I going to do on a Saturday?

Just think on 31 December when we were sitting 2nd in the table we had a 3 point lead and a game in hand over tomorrow's rivals Watford who now top the table with a 6 point lead over us. That's a 11 point turnaround over 14 games and we've used up our game in hand.
Had ME invested in January I don't think this would have happened.

For all we know mate, ME may have been prepared to spend money in January, but MM seems to take great pride in spending nothing on players so who knows? What we will never know is if we missed signing some players due to personal terms not being agreed.

Re: HELP
I think it is fairly common knowledge within the town that ME did in fact make funds available and MM refused it to a point, we do know Anthony Knockeart was earmarked to come here on loan and he certainly wouldnt have been cheap, what we don't know is who else may have been sought, none of that matters though as people make their own minds up that ME isn't supporting his manager and the manager is ruining our chances by not strengthening the side well enough.

Re: HELP
Probably get castigated to hell for this but with regards the piece in bold don't you think that's one reason why the McCarthy outers - or doubters (delete as appropriate) - are the way they are. We know damn well that a section of support have been disappointed with some of the recent names brought in and that McCarthy hasn't reinforced areas of the team that need further structure. Surely if Evans had the funds available to him then he'd use them accordingly. McCarthy is no novice in the game and with someone of his managerial experience, some would have expected better.bluemike wrote:I think it is fairly common knowledge within the town that ME did in fact make funds available and MM refused it to a point, we do know Anthony Knockeart was earmarked to come here on loan and he certainly wouldnt have been cheap, what we don't know is who else may have been sought, none of that matters though as people make their own minds up that ME isn't supporting his manager and the manager is ruining our chances by not strengthening the side well enough.
Last words on Evans himself and it's just one man's opinion but isn't there more he could be doing for the club ? Lives a reclusive life in Bermuda (or wherever it is) and never appears at games or even makes the trouble to visit his investment in the UK and just keeps himself to himself. Yes I don't always get to see what go on inside the club like some others but have been with it right since Evans arrived on the scene, and guess what I'm trying to say, why can't he be more actively involved.
It's not so much an apathy as far it's concerned, it's merely the owner just seems to keep out of sight a long distance away and allows his managers to get on with it, without really paying closer attention. Of course some are going to take issue.

Re: HELP
Evans attends a fair few games at PR.
I suppose there is always more a owner can do for a club yes, but abosrbing an 86 million debt while pumping in 5 million each and every year just to keep the club afloat, isn't a bad place to start, freezing ticket prices for something like 6 consecutive seasons due to the previous owners etc f*****g it up is also to be applauded.
Mick McCarthy has always maintained he knew the score when he came here and he knew what cards he was going to be dealt, he also repeatedly states he would only bring players in that he feels are better than what we have and who fit into our budgets, we are not and never will be spending 4, 5, 6 million on any one player. There were loads of Town fans repeatedly crying out for the club to sign Chris Wood and MM obliged, they guy looks a carthorse and all those fans suddenly go quiet on Wood !!
For all our faults we are very close to the teams that have splashed out millions and millions, I don't believe our poor form has anything to do with the lack of spending, in fact I think bringing some new faces in has had a detrimental effect on the team, I do concede something had to be done because of the smallish squad we operate with and in fact its the injuries that have had a bigger effect on us than the lack of spending. Mcgoldrick, Hyam, N.Hunt, S,Hunt, Ambrose have all been missing for a fair while now and it has been hard.

Re: HELP
Thats us down to 8th tonight as Wolves become the latest team to hit form. Forest not far behind, and we have just about every game essentially being a 6 pointer now. "Exciting" end to the season? Think I'll take up bloody chess, it'll be an easier life on the old ticker!

Re: HELP
Trust me, Hallam, it's not.
I remember I thought I'd forced this opponent to move his rook 3 places along to cover his king from a check situation, ...... Didn't notice the feckin teddy bishop down the other end, swoop in with ease , knock my knight off his harse, and checkmate my king. Lost 50quid. I took up watching bloody Hibs after that.
