I think starting from a draw can actually help us. If we had won yesterday, Norwich would throw it all at us and we'd be backed against the wall for a terrifying 90 minutes. However we both go into this on even footing and I think that Mick will be able to get the better of them this time, I can really feel it. Yesterday has made a hell of a lot more confident.

Re: Fine balance for next game. who has the edge?
It is a decent post, to be honest I really don't think there is much in it at all, clearly with home advantage they should have a very slight edge, but and it is a big but, they have been better away from home than they have at carrott road and they have tended to get nervy when things are not going their way, the fans get restless and turn a bit. We have to ensure we stifle them in the first 15 minuts and not let them get up a head of steam, if they do it will be very hard, the longer we go into the game the more I think it favours us, once again yesterday I felt they got any good fortune that was going, Smith slippiong to allow them to score, Varney getting injured early doors etc, so for me that is Three games now where we havent really had a piece of good fortune against them, that will surely change next week.
As for team selection, clearly Varney will be out but I have no issue with Ando coming in for him, I am not his biggest fan but in the last few appearances he has actually done well and cuased defences problems, the rest of the starting Eleven doesnt need to be altered in my opinion although we do need to stop their attacks down the flanks a bit more, we allowed them a bit too much space at times and a fair few balls into our box, it needs to be tighter. Sears and Murphy while having some chances each really didnt have their best games and I can see them being more of a handfull next week. I really hope they play Russel Martin at CB again because for me he was plain awful, team of the season my arse !!!
I am not concerned at all at not being ahead, I thought I would be but I saw nothing yesterday to suggest we can't do this and what better place to do it ? It is going to be a long week but we have to believe, we did it at Watford & Brentford, we also got a result at Bournemouth so keep the faith. We will give it our all and that is all we can ask, I have this feeling after yesterday that we may well get the job done.

Re: Fine balance for next game. who has the edge?
I think that there's a lot of sense in what he says, especially the bit that if we went there with a lead then Naarwich would come out of the blocks at us like a bat out of hell. They still will at some point of course, but I think that the longer we stay level the better it will suit us and the stronger we'll get.
I have a feeling that MM might stick with 4-3-3 next week, and would not be at all surprised if Varney is replaced by McGoldrick. If that happens - and especially if we play more like 4-3-1-2 with McGoldrick as the 1 then I can see us coming out of this with a convincing win.

Re: Fine balance for next game. who has the edge?
Have to say that I thought that we were the more effective side yesterday. But I also think they will be happy to have left with the draw.
I don't buy any of this tortured psychological thinking about not preferring to be ahead. Our team has proved nothing if not that they are a highly professional bunch this season. I think MM & TC have them well set up.
I was so happy to see Bru back yesterday but maybe Bishop was a little lightweight for such a 'blood & thunder' game.
Next week will be no different IMO.
Penalties anyone?
Actually as an afterthought will there be extra time in the event of a draw? I would say that this will not be good for us. It costs a lot of effort to stifle a team that is actually pretty classy when not shackled.

great post and a nice perspective, if I was them I too would be worried and we can infact go there with some pressure lifted. If it goes to penalties unfortunately I think there will be only one outcome.

In a one-off match it's entirely possible for the under-achievers to continue doing so; whilst the perceived over-achievers do exactly the same. Result - Wembley here we come!

What we need is another Watford away performance where the home team did not have a shot on target, and we go steal it at the death. Now that would be brilliant.

Not sure I could get through that scenario again LOL.derick_ipsw wrote:What we need is another Watford away performance where the home team did not have a shot on target, and we go still at the death. Now that would be brilliant.

I bet you could if it meant coming away with a 0-1 win

Re: Fine balance for next game. who has the edge?
Took the time to have a look at one or two of their fan forums recently and most are honest enough to say without any touch of bias that both teams have just about equal chance and simply it'll come down to the greater hunger and desire. Yes you do get the few idiots who simply state that 'binners' etc etc have no chance and we may as well not turn up and award them the game before start of play but you get a few like that on any forum regardless of team colors. Yes we've had some very commendable results away from home this season versus teams such as Brentford, Watford and Bournemouth and even though the manner is which one or two eventually arrived may be deemed fortunate we have shown we can hold our own against the best this league can offer over the last nine months so there's no real need for any trepidation.
They'll begin as favorites once again, will have the greater pressure and in front of an expectant home crowd also, so let's turn that to our advantage and go out and beat those .....

Inbred Players are prob faves but I am also guessing they are going to be the more nervous.
They got the crowd behind them
we got their hate behind,, us, so if we can score and win, it'll be a nice big F**K YOu
