The morning after

Post by JonnoTown » Sun May 17, 2015 11:01 am

Its always hard waking up and realising the dream is all over. And that you're going t have to go to Leeds on a Tuesday night again next year in the most exciting league in the world, but also the most gruelling for players and fans.

But surely this has to be the best season in the clubs history since being relegated 15 years ago?

It's finished with defeat, but the connection between the club and the fans is the strongest I've ever witnessed. So much pride and support being shared on Twitter between the players and fans and I just feel emensley proud.

I've just watched the highlights from yesterday as it was a bit of a blur, especially when Tommy scored. That will go down as the seasons highlight, with the way he supported with us and the elation between fans.

Being at the game you get caught up in emotion and maybe need to take a back seat, but watching back we had them there for the taking. The 2nd goal should never have happened, Mingsy has got to get a foot in and it was through Bart before he could see it.

I know they're the enemy, but I thought it was nice how all the town and norwich players congratualted each other with hugs as well. Nowrich play some very attractive football, but of course the pain we have suffered in the derbys this season isn't pleasent but the hurt will ease considerably if boro get a result.

From every loss comes new opportunity. MM and TC have built a club that I'm sure others will look in on with envy. MM record the season following play off defeats has beer automatic promotion twice I think.

Next season is a new season and you look at Wigan and Brighton after play off defeats struggling the following season, but I believe the internal mechanics of our club are far stronger than the aforementioned and with all the support we as fans have given the players, they will want to play for this club and come Out fighting next season.

No World Cup this year, only the ashes and Wimbledon to look forward to, but I think the high of this season will get me through the summer and we can all look forward to August.

I've enjoyed reading all your posts this season, which are generally getting more positive each year! And what fantastic supporters we have and we all have a club to be emensley proud of.

Happy holidays all.

Town were (last) relegated in 2002 and mentioned before this has been the best season since 2004 - 05. (I believe) Royle was a better manager than McCarthy and we had a better squad at that time but even then lost out again in the final play-off events.

What occured yesterday can't be changed. But for everything else and has been mentioned so many times previous, we have had a fine season with lots of moments that will live on in the months ahead and despite any doubt I possessed about McCarthy's abilities, he has done a very commendable job and made the club recognized once again. The frustration is we're going to have to wait another twelve months to see if we can make it back to a top six finish - or indeed go one better with an auto promotion - but after all that has occured in the last nine months, there is a certain level of promise ahead.
