Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary of the play-off win over Barnsley at Wembley Stadium, it's nice to look back on this achievement particularly after the setback of another recent play-off loss.
The events of the day even now are a little hazy and remember little about the game itself apart from Reuser scoring a long range effort near the end to make the game safe and didn't Barnsley miss a penalty at some stage ? Believe they scored first before we got back into it. Great game for the neutrals but a frantic - and sometimes difficult - afternoon to live through for both sets of supporters.
This of course was the prelude to the very successful 2000 -01 season where we had a fifth placed finish and surprised an awful lot of teams, managers and fans alike on route to very nearly obtaining a champions league place at the end of it all. Our record in the play-offs is of course disappointing but on this day alone, we got it right with an afternoon that will be long remembered.
