Town pre season friendlies confirmed to date
Town’s so far confirmed pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
11th July 3pm Shelbourne v Town
17th July 6.30pm (local time)Fortuna Dusseldorf v Town
21st July 7.45pm Cambridge United v Town
25th July 3pm Peterborough United v Town
28th July 7.45pm Colchester United v Town
(Source TWTD)
I have heard that we might have a home friendly vs Spurs. But can't recall where I heard this. But its likely to be the final pre-season game.

Not very interesting opposition other than Fortuna but that's a long way for fans to travel for a friendly.

True, but it's not too dissimilar from previous close seasons. We know we're not going to be playing teams the caliber of Milan or Real Madrid so not sure what some may be expecting. The trip to Germany is obviously the pick of the bunch and fans of both clubs will have another day to remember but other than that there's really little in the way of excitement.Charnwood wrote:Not very interesting opposition other than Fortuna but that's a long way for fans to travel for a friendly.
Just the way it is, most - if not all - clubs will be in the same situation. It's merely for a pre-season run-out and give any potential new signings a chance and for teams to get back to fitness after a few weeks away in some largely immaterial fixtures before the real action gets underway in August.

Going to Germany for a friendly seems bloody daft. Reduces training days and wastes days between games, much rather play a boring match close to home.

Did you participate on one of the previous excursions, guessing No. David has organized another trip out there and as Dusseldorf is a twin club it represents an opportunity for both sets of supporters to meet up and take in a game. Fans can be assured of a trip to remember and it should be another successful event.AylesburyBlue wrote:Going to Germany for a friendly seems bloody daft. We are playing some (boring) games closer to home also, incidentally.

I would never travel that far for a friendly but that's besides the point.saint jude wrote:Did you participate on one of the previous excursions, guessing No. David has organized another trip out there and as Dusseldorf is a twin club it represents an opportunity for both sets of supporters to meet up and take in a game. I would be all up for this for the fans, BUT during a two week international break, use it as a little bonding thing for players also. Would be good for subs/ those who have been injured too.

Re: Town pre season friendlies confirmed to date
It's nice, after so many years of trying to get the clubs to participate, we finally have a fortuna/town fixture.
Hopefully it'll become a standard thing, with the venues alternating each year.
Well done Dave

Hi Liz
Sunny Spain is good thank you. £/€ is strong so it's very cheap here at the moment. Coming back to the UK in July for a few weeks, far too hot here.
Hope to pull in a couple of Town games before coming back to Spain in September.
Maybe we can have a few La Liga games thrown into our Prediction League.
Talking of Spurs, both they and Barcelona can sometimes be found pre season at Oliva Nova Resort nearby which has fantastic facilities.

Re: Town pre season friendlies confirmed to date
There is nothing on Spurs official site about any game being lined up between the sides. They've got Sydney in a few days and then a mini-tourney involving Bayern Munich and Milan after that, nothing advertised about a game with us.
As for West Ham we seem to play them every damn pre-season so wouldn't be surprised to see that come to pass. Point being they're not a favorite team in so many words and would rather avoid them. The trip to Dusseldorf is still the pick of the bunch.

I know I'll get fking slated by Bluemike for saying this (
) but, ....., an ITFC V Hibs game would've been nice. Every season I yearn for this. Never met in our history. It'd be a day to remember...... For me anyway.

Well, not quite slated buddy, but something along the lines of......, "Pre season friendlies against pub teams?!"bluemike wrote:Why would I slate you Marko ??? I was working the day The Loons played Alloa in that second leg but the game was on BBC ALBA up here. Was near the end when I got in and switched the TV on......, it was 3-0......, could not believe what I was seeing. A Hibs Forfar match up would've been decent. There is always the Cups though......., could still happen.

Re: Town pre season friendlies confirmed to date
I watched every sad second of it and for 44 and a half minutes we had them in our pockets only to let Chopra score with virtually the last kick of the first half, had that not happened we would have been promoted for sure. The defensive errors for the last 2 goals we absolutely unbelievable, self destruct doesnt come close.marko69 wrote:Well, not quite slated buddy, but something along the lines of......, "Pre season friendlies against pub teams?!"bluemike wrote:Why would I slate you Marko ???
