So United will field their "B" team - is that the plan?

Hmmm. Maybe in areas. Not in total.
Douglas offers nothing, Gerks is at best a deputy and we still dont have a cb to partner Berra. We have no commanding centre midfielder still and no outstanding goalscorer, last season we had Murphy. In my opinion we are far worse ps 5-1!

Too many repeat poor performances: smith, chambers, Gergen, Douglas.

Gerken looks lost. Okay maybe no chance but please just little effort be nice. Saying that no closing down just here you go mate, have a go.

Could of been so different when Pittman hit the bar and the pen appeal on David which for my money was a foul in anybodies book

It's a joke it really is. Bart must be either injured or not in right frame of mind to play. But please for the love of god get Gerken out of goal.

Did Girks pay to watch this game - if not he should have. Those behind the goal moved faster

I was answering considering all the season so far, mate..... Not just tonight's performance.

Agree that there is absolutely zero positives tonight.

And Knudsen is one of the worst players I've seen.

Now listen to Mick beef up Reading, very patronising, if Micks got any balls after this he can walk

Gerkin and the defence as a whole is now being shown up as our weak link. We are waay to slow at the back and either GK is average very best. We need to bring in Parr , probably at Left Back bring Nru back into midfield as soon as he can. But most of all invest in a GK at some time very soon.

What did we learn from yesterdays defeat?

Gerkin.......Does not come for enough crosses and his distribution was poor.
Emmanuel..... The 17yr old is not ready yet.
Douglas and Skuse....... They have to protect the back four better, they also have to work out if 1 goes forward the other sits.
Berra...... Is going to be missed
MM.... Has got to play Mcgoldrick, he is a very good "Footballer" and can make Town Tick.

I said this after the Brighton defeat and it still applies!!

Seems I chose the wrong time to tune into our season. What utter dross.

Based on how the season started, is it fair to say we had an off night? A TV performance as normal?

There seemed to be an awful amount of questions raised from that.

Not taking anything away at all from the fact that Mick needs to make some changes......, I think Reading would've beaten most teams with a keeper like Gerkin! :D

Seriously though, I feel it was 50/50......, by that I mean, 50% Ipswich making them look good, and 50% they were actually very good.

Have spent the past week in hospital having undergone surgery and return to find news of this 'setback'. Didn't realize (or did not recall) that this game was set for a Friday night start, assumed before it was back to Saturdays etc, but bottom line, this is largely unacceptable.

Fair enough don't know all the statistics, but have read enough to ascertain that McCarthy made some errors on the day, the defense is unreliable - a concern for subsequent fixtures, and there is still a lot of work needed if the team is to be labeled as real promotion material. Fair enough ? Well there will be those who were present or watched via a live broadcast and while having their own understanding, it would appear once again that the team is not yet consistent once again to really challenge for the highest league places by end of season.

This embarrassment or however you want to see it as, would be a fine opportunity to once again berate the manager for his shortcomings or point the accusing finger, but really, it's (still) only a handful of games into the season. Everything was going so well up until Brighton and now what is it, eight goals let it in two games and two defeats that could prove costly by end of season. An exit to Manchester United in the league cup would only bring about minimal damage, but it's still a competition I would like to see the team go a long way in.

Were the opposition really four goals better than us ? Sure need some tightening in defense and better leadership abilities maybe, but can only see what the next game brings. Hope to be involved in some capacity when the time arises.

Never 4 goals better than us, more like 8 goals better than us just unlucky not to get them! My first match was brighton at home and the football i saw there was poor, brighton got through us too easily, reading even more so. Mcgoldrick is still a luxury player for town, good on the ball but too relaxed and not enough effort for my liking, if we are going to insist on playing him he needs to be sitting just behind the front two not as a stricker. MM seemd to be tinkering too much with the wealth of squad members he now has and it aint working. Pitman is also a waste of a town shirt, an insult to freddie sears who should start up front, not fitted in on the wing just to accomodate pitman. Another murphy situation when he was playing wide. Douglas i dont rate, lots of huff n puff but didnt really see anything in him, skuse having to basically be a one man midfield yesturday. Knudson needs to sharpen up, beat too easily too many times, i feel sorry for the likes of parr who i think is more than capable of fitting into our back four. Bart needs to return in goal gerkin needs to be shipped out and another number two goalie signed. Im off to leeds on tuesday, last time i went MM pulled a master stroke and left murphy and sears on bench and started with varny and wood, what a disaster that was, leading championship goalscorer on the bench against a side many points below us and we lost! Not holding out much hope.
