Seriously ? I just had a look at the pre match chat and you can add Blueblood, Shed, Hallam, Mach & Ipswichtownno1 to that list !! LOL.marko69 wrote:Job done, MM, TC & ITFC.
According to Tony Cottee, should've been 4 or 5 nil ITFC @ HT, so sounds like things went very right tonight. I think everyone and their dug, except Rossi thought this'd be a win and that's how it's panned out.
Was all Boro at the Riverside tonight v Rotherham but only managed the 1-0 win......, very stubborn Rotherham defence. Everyone will be hoping Mick sets up to build on the Bolton win and have a good go at Shyte-hole, Rotherham on Saturday.

Many positives from the game. I thought Douglas was allowed to show his potential more as he could get forward, one superb shot that so nearly scored, and we didn't even get a corner despite the deflection it took. . Murphy looked sharper, was prepared to shoot but still prepared to bring others into the game. Played a big part in the first goal if my memory serves correctly. For all my criticism Knudsen had a decent game, and got forward well. Sears played well despite not operating centrally. AMN had a good 40 minutes.
The opposition were poor, but in the first half in particular we closed them down so quickly, defending from the front. And at times we put a few passes together on the ground.
As I've said too many times before, I'm not over worried by results. I don't expect a top 6 finish, I just want to see some good football. Last night I wasn't disappointed. Winning - and scoring a couple of good goals - just adds to that. I have to ask why we can't get the ball down like that every match. Ok, we were allowed to play. But closing a team down? We should be doing that every week.
An enjoyable game. That's 3 in a row where we have started to look more like a football team.

When Chambers kicked the ball out straight from the kick off I thought here we go again.
At least last night we did try to play the ball on the deck at times and therefore it was far more entertaining on the eye. I see there is a discussion on whether Knudson should have got a red card instead of a yellow and Mr Lennon certainly wasn't happy about the ref's decision. Then again Murphy was being fouled all night but the ref totally ignored it.
For me Sears, Pitman and Murphy all put a good shift in and there is no doubt we deserved the win and on another night could have scored 5 or 6. Now comes the test as we need to follow this up with another 3 points on Saturday. Rotherham might be struggling but as we found out up there last season it certainly could end up being a banana skin.

And just why do you think that?James Scharmann wrote:A much needed win, sure keep some Town fans quiet for a while
Every Town fan will be pleased that we got a much needed win of course, but that does not necessarily mean that the problems that have existed over the past few games have all miraculously disappeared. Fact is, we played a poor side last night that offered absolutely nothing in going forward.
Let's wait until we reach mid December and see how we have fared in some of the difficult games coming up after the international break.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Bolton Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
For the same reason many fans think that. And not just ITFC fans. Every club have fans who'd like to see their club go through lean spells to act as a catalyst to change management. Those fans are not more or less of a fan than any other fan. And there will be ITFC fans not so pleased about the Bolton result; and like James said, they choose to keep quiet. Your first sentence seemed defensive. You obviously thought James directed his post at you.rossi wrote:And just why do you think that?James Scharmann wrote:A much needed win, sure keep some Town fans quiet for a while
Regarding waiting until mid December to "see" how things are going........, hopefully Mick & Co are just taking it one game at a time. Hopefully building on some confidence gained from last night.

You saying that I thought James was directing the post at me made me laugh so much - you really don't know what you're talking about.marko69 wrote:For the same reason many fans think that. I have nothing to be defensive about - I believe in my opinions, why should I feel the need to defend them?
I think that most people with a modicum of common sense would understand what my answer to James was all about, and I really can't be bothered to explain it to those that can't.

It'll be an entirely different game from Bolton......, some may think Rotherham will be a great chance for 3pts, but Boro struggled to score against them, AND they nearly equalised at the end. Not a gimme by any means.ashfordblue wrote:we'll see Marko against Rotherham on Saturday, if we can win that by 3 or more goals we just might be heading in the right direction, but I have a feeling Mick will fiddle and change the team and try for a draw, and we could come unstuck like last season against them, what's the saying one swallow does not make a summer, so one win in 10 don't make every thing ok,

Surely we all believe in our own opinions, otherwise why have them? It follows that we should be prepared to defend them against those who don't share them.
Perhaps I understand f*ck all as well, Marko.

I doubt will win by 3 or more goals, mate. In fact, I think your premonition of a draw is accurate. Like Rossi says, all of our problems haven't miraculously disappeared. I'll be ecstatic if we get the win, but it's hard to tell with so much parity in the league. I was surprised to see Huddersfield draw at Reading 2-2 after leading for a good portion of the game. I hope MM doesn't tinker too much...AMN, Pitman and Knudsen all deserve a start IMO.ashfordblue wrote:we'll see Marko against Rotherham on Saturday, if we can win that by 3 or more goals we just might be heading in the right direction, but I have a feeling Mick will fiddle and change the team and try for a draw, and we could come unstuck like last season against them, what's the saying one swallow does not make a summer, so one win in 10 don't make every thing ok,

So now we have to win by 3 goals just to prove ourselves PMSL. I will take a shabby 1-0 with the flukiest goal ever seen.

Even if Town do win by 3 goals, do you think that would really stop the moaners?
Would take a fluke also if we win on Saturday. Thing is we are only 4 points off the top six. still having what 30 games left? Come on every team goes through a bad patch. Lets see where we are nearing Christmas. Three years ago we were the laughing stock.
Look at other clubs who changed there managers just for no reason other than thinking could do better.. Charlton with Alan Curbishley, Blackburn with Sam Allardyce, Newcastle were never happy with Alan Pardew. List goes on. Wolves with Mick McCarthy, Sunderland with Peter Reid. If we had a ready made replacement then ok bring him in. There isn't though.
I do not agree with everything Mick says or do. I still think our keepers do not control the box especially from crosses. I still feel needing creative midfielder and decent specialist in full back yet i do trust Mick, i do think if we have bit of luck we can get promoted. I do wish he had bigger kitty but at least not thinking of league 1 where were looking few short years ago

Re: Ipswich Town vs Bolton Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
Depends how you define moaners. There is (and always has been) a minority that berates the team / manager to a certain extent even after a comprehensive victory. Some people seem justified in their ways however (after this Bolton victory) as it was the first win in seven or eight fixtures and as before, the last few weeks have been disappointing. We all want to see the club do well but I think there's two categories involved here :
#1 Those that will take a win by any means necessary i.e. sneak a one goal victory through one shot in the game to the opposition's 40, being outplayed for 90 per cent of the game, play crap and pick up an undeserved win / freak victory etc.
#2 Those that want to see the team win with a bit of flair and effort, i.e. ensure any victory is a deserved one
There's no ambiguity from some participants regards their feeling for McCarthy as team manager, but as doubtless mentioned before, we'll allow him at least until end of season to see where we find ourselves and then make proper evaluation.

NO !!! Nothing will stop them, it is how they wander through life I expect. After all 2 defeats in the last seven games is a crisis isn't it ?
