Ipswich Town reportedly subjected to winding-up order...
Just logged on to the EADT website to see this rather alarming headline: 'Ipswich Town to explain winding up order':
http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/ipswich_town ... _1_4427651
Ian Milne has said that he believes the issue has already been resolved, and relates to a debt which was paid before Christmas.
The club is expected to release a statement later this morning...

Re: Ipswich Town reportedly subjected to winding-up order...
In a statement, a spokesman for Ipswich Town said: “A service provider issued a court petition for non-payment between Christmas and New Year whereby their automated process accelerated this action despite an agreement for payment to be made early January.
It would seem the company we owed the money to were a bit quick off the mark and wanted to take the money earlier than agreed.

Name and shame the company involved.
If it was agreed payment was to be in January .

It says in the EADT article that it was HMRC - bloody typical tax man, prepared to wind up a business without any concern to the number of people that would get hurt - not that I really despise HMRC (much), just sayingBLUEBLOOD wrote:Name and shame the company involved.

'Service provider mistake' is turning out to be a HMRC claim.
Looks like we have a new Clegg in Milne who has been trying to mislead Town fans.
More bullsh1t from him this summer as he'll come out with his annual tripe: 'there will be money available for Mick'.

Things tend to have to go pretty far for HMRC to start a winding up order don't they? I dislike the tax man as much as anyone else, but I tend not to knock him.rossi wrote:It says in the EADT article that it was HMRC - bloody typical tax man, prepared to wind up a business without any concern to the number of people that would get hurt - not that I really despise HMRC (much), just sayingBLUEBLOOD wrote:Name and shame the company involved.

Curious how it's gone from a service provider to HMRC in a matter of hours. What service did they provide us? Certainly wasn't a rebate on transfer fee tax

No doubt 'spin' will be put on it so we never get to know the truth.

Talk of Winding Up Orders is time to call in Peter Risdale wh is an expert on them. His dealings kept Cardiff alive a couple of years ago when we in trouble with the tax people. I could never understand all the financial dealings which go on in football. Even this year we have been in trouble over finances leading to a transfer ban. The Club was in depression and team performances were abismal and then in rode our owner on his charger came up with a plan loaned half our squad out brought in a couple of loaners, converted half our debt to equatey and all of sudden we are taking off again. Six games without a defeat and a thumping of Brighton on Saturday and the sun is beginning to shine again. Don't worry about things behind the scenes just enjoy your football and let the owner worry about the money side.

Just goes to show that high levels of automation and reliance on computers is not necessarily a good thing.
Mr Smith the tax inspector putting a note in the file and a B/f in his diary stops this sort of thing happening.
I'm sure we have all received demands for payments that have already been made sent by a computer despite what we and someone working for the company/business know.

Thank the sweet mother of Jaysus I was busy and didn't see this thread earlier when Jamma posted it. This was a tad worrying was it not? Think we should all have a competition as to guess what Jamma said when he first read it and was alarmed....,..., I'll go first;
Jamma sees headline: "Oh my God, holy absolute crap from hell."

Hopefully the calls to spend what we aint got might be a bit more muted after this headline then, you never really know what is going on behind the scenes.

But there is money available ? Not in the sense of a bottomless pit, but there are funds available aren't there ? What happened to all the proceeds from the Mings transaction ? (as one example)bluemike wrote:Hopefully the calls to spend what we aint got might be a bit more muted after this headline then, you never really know what is going on behind the scenes.
Furthermore this high court issue wouldn't appear to run for much further. MD Milne has disclosed that any detbs are now paid for, and this at a time going into the last calendar year. Issue seems just about resolved from all I could ascertain.

Yes by all accounts there are funds available, and by all accounts it is MM and not ME who chooses not to spend it.
I was just being cynical for a change, particularly if there are any fans who actually beleive we may be in real trouble with unpaid tax but who still ask for spending.

Think Kinks Sunny Aftrrnoon!
The taxman's taken all our dough,
And left us here at Portman Road,
Praying for a Russian Billionnaire.
'Cos he's taken everything we got,
And we can't afford to spend a jot,
Leaving Mick so sad and all a-loan!
