Wishing these two lads well
Just reading this from the ITFC official website makes you forget you're own concerns. I have Osteoporosis in my right and left hip at different suffierities and now in my lower spine but hopefully can be treated with hip replacements and drugs.
These two men really inspire. I'm hoping to make the friendly at Newmarket. and i wish both well and and also the bride for the wedding next year
To the driver i'm hoping your conscience may get better of you and give your self up if not yet found because he/she will no doubt get surely get caught

yes as hallam says hope they catch those involved and throw the book at them.wish the two lads all the best.
on a side note, hope you get your hip replacement soon steve.not like my wife who due to a complete c*ck up,would have to waited over 36 weeks for her knee replacement.the c*ck up was due to suffolk thresh hold group,a load of pen pushers, front line staff no way to blame.

News items such as this always lend a certain sense of perspective. We take too much for granted in this life and often fail to realize the suffering of others. Take this opportunity to wish these gentlemen every success in their fund raising endeavors and hope the vehicle and it's occupants who fled the scene without stopping are soon found and dealt with for their lack of responsibility.

I saw this story the other day and couldn't believe how someone could just drive away after such a horriffic thing, no doubt they will be caught and dealt with accordingly. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

Re: Wishing these two lads well
Steve, I'm hoping you get these issues sorted out in the very near future and all the very best to you dealing with it. I know the pain can be excruciating at times. I don't know from personal experience, but family members.
Extremely tragic accident this, hopefully these guys can carry on with some form of normality, although highly doubtful.
The people who fled the scene, if caught, should face charges on a par with murder. Suffolk police should be looking for very tired looking people as I'm assuming they won't be sleeping at night.

The lad concerned is Shaun Whiter - what an inspiration to us all, and those who have experienced similar life-changing events. Shaun has displayed great courage and resilience, and is determined to carry on living life to the max, including getting involved the Paralympic organisation. I know everyone wishes him and his family all the very best, and hopefully some will be able to attend his benefit match, organised by ITFC, at Needham Market on 31 Jul.
As for the dispicable, cowardly, moron responsible: you wlll be found, and will be punished. Don't fancy your chances if/when gaoled.

Re: Wishing these two lads well
It was said this individual (or individuals) will be apprehended and brought to justice for their actions, but it's an unfortunate truth that many crimes go unsolved, be it lack of evidence, police not being thorough enough, case inconsistencies, you name it. Don't get me wrong I wish for the perpetrator to be found as much as the next, but for every infraction or breach of law, there are going to be instances where the victim is neglected and no justice is forthcoming. Say these persons are found and it goes to court, such is the state of the UK's soft-as-sh*t judicial system, I'd warrant there would be no custodial sentence and only a fine and points on the license. Guess time will be the deciding factor.
Say again wish the fundraising effort every success and thoughts are with the victims and families involved.

I agree, SJ, the U.K. judicial system is "soft as sh*t" but I think you'll find this guy, if guilty, will spend a fair few years behind bars. And you (if you work) and I, will pay for his upkeep. Should go "all USA" and execute the bstd. (Again, if guilty)

Being held in custody. Appears in court, in Cambridge, on Monday. Will hopefully be remanded for the Crown Court, who should impose the maximum sentence available to it. (Lock the b*stard up, and throw away the key).hallamblue wrote:http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/man_charged_ ... _1_4610619

Best wishes, also, to the other lad who was badly injured in the hit and run.

Pleasing to hear they caught him. Anybody know how the hearing went today?
On a side note thank you to the well wishes for my own little problems. Still intending to come to as many games as my body allows me to this season.

Re: Wishing these two lads well
the tossa has pleaded not guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. I think he was an immigrant , well his name wasn't English. .....what I still haven't read anywhere is whether he handed himself in or was arrested because they found out who it was.

Remanded to appear at Cambridge Crown Court - who have greater sentencing powers. However, the individual arrested pleaded not guilty at today's Magistrates' Court. If he does not change his plea, but is subsequently found guilty, then the judge will take that fact into account.Steve and Jo wrote:Pleasing to hear they caught him. However, as much as we would all want to see justice served, the impact on the victim is effectively a life sentence.
Not too long to go until season starts - hopefully you'll be able to get to a good number of games. Will always be a step into the unknown!

Certainly intend to, might need piggyback lift back to stadium though..
My problem isn't just the hip joints but the surrounding bones are decaying and now into my lower spine. Hoping the medication i'm on will hopefully rebuild the bones. Lack of Vitamin D and Calcium i'm afraid which are now being by tablet forms addressed.
Fingers crossed not to late and then if and when bones strong enough will seek hip replacements.

Re: Wishing these two lads well
Anyone planning to go to this today are advised to arrive early and park in Newmarket as parking is very limited at the town ground. I believe there are 2 games today first one kicking off at 1pm. NTFC are expecting a big crowd to show up. I will be getting to the town ground around mid day.
