Daryl Murphy.
Losing Daryl Murphy was a big loss to us but what a waste of his ability moving to Newcastle United where he's yet to make an appearance and doesn't even get a seat on the subs bench.
If ME isn't going to give MMc any funds to sign new players maybe we should ask Newcastle if we can have him back on loan in January?
Any thoughts ?

Re: Daryl Murphy.
What odds can you get on Murphy being available for selection this weekend and scoring against us ?
You can dispute the decision to sell but the player just couldn't replicate his achievements from before. January would seem a long way off and there's substantial time for our team to improve so not sure if we'd require his services once more when the time arises. A loan deal wouldn't harm but I'd only entertain the idea if the team really continued to find goals an issue and our other center forwards and attacking options just weren't being productive enough.

I've actually been saying the same thing, I would not be at all surprised to see him return on loan.

Was having the same chat on Tuesday night. In some ways it seems a no-brainier. Wonder if the transfer deal involved having first call on any future loan deal? Might be an option if Benitez doesn't consider us to be promotion rivals!
I think the reason he's not featured up at Newcastle is due to a calf? injury.

Re: Daryl Murphy.
What would we get long-term from Murphy if he returns? Yes - we would get a Murphy-like replacement in ... err .. Murphy, but he's 33-34 and we made a good decision to off-load for good money. If we didn't have the time to get adequate replacement before summer transfer window, then look to January to get a younger replacement from the Murphy money.
Yes, can see we're missing Murph, but its muddled thinking. He's moved on - so should we.

I don't think we should consider taking Murphy back on loan, even if he becomes available. Agree we need to move on from the Murphy era. Best is certainly not DM's replacement, but we need to move on. I don't think RB would release DM anyway...Rafa obviously saw something in Daryl to sign him in the first place.

Re: Daryl Murphy.
I wouldn't want Murphy back on loan. We need to get a much younger target man.
Murphy is yesterday's man as far as I'm concerned. Yes we miss his physical presence up front, but at we are not lumping it aimlessly forward every time now. Keep it on the deck.

I don't think anyone has said they want him more that it would be no surprise were he to return on loan. At the end of the day someone needs to arrive in January window.

Re: Daryl Murphy.
On balance, moving on is probably right. However, am sure the loan scenario will have been kicked around within the club (hitting the post and going narrowly wide); and should some sort of deal hit MM's radar screen, then wouldn't totally rule it out. Muddled thinking and ITFC management/supporters often make good bedfellows btw!
