Yes for me the save from Montgomery was probably the best I've ever seen.arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 10:20 pmYou wonder just how many times Ian Porterfield or Jim Montgomery is mentioned every time they play each other. Always thought the latter's save that day was just maybe the best example of goalkeeping ever. Better than Banks in Mexico. It's surreal each time you can view it.
Other matches.

Have to agree, I still don’t know how he saved the 2nd effort from Lorimer.Bluemike wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 7:52 amYes for me the save from Montgomery was probably the best I've ever seen.arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 10:20 pmYou wonder just how many times Ian Porterfield or Jim Montgomery is mentioned every time they play each other. Re: Other matches.
Brighton Hove Albion come back a two goal reverse to win against Tottenham, only just got the score, haven't had chance to keep in with other action thus far today until now. We took a point there and they score three times to beat Spurs, I don't know, I'm really quite pleased with that one result.
It's not possible to drop by without mention of Scots action and both leading teams played today and scored very late goals to win their respective games. Both Celtic and Aberdeen have 7 wins from 7. The former is to be expected but the other is so bizarre older fans will be looking straight away back to the early / mid 1980's under Alex Ferguson for last such an instance. Heart of Midlothian no wins from 8 games. It has to be said, it does look like being one of the most fascinating seasons there in many a long year if the pace continues.

I see Fraser has been sent off and that Leicester are right back in it (2-2) at Southampton.

Cheating Man City bastards - clearly impeding the goalkeeper which in itself was a foul but as usual, VAR gets it wrong. Makes me sick

Re: Other matches.
It looked as though the ref only consulted the VAR review to consider offside. The very clear, obvious and deliberate obstruction was ignored - as is so often the case.
I do believe goalkeepers are over protected at times, but if you deliberately stand in the way to prevent his movement (and in this case be pushing him as well) that has to be obstruction.

Re: Other matches.
Haven't viewed the incident, perhaps later when time permits it but in a sense pleased they took a victory from it. I don't particularly like them, at least what they now represent, but when or if they win the league (each time) it simply prevents a more reprehensible club name from being Champions or coming first etc.
Looks like flying the SPL standard alone while Mark's away but that was a real good weekend just passed. High-tempo entertainment and value for all, it's a shame many just fail to recognize it. Rangers lose and drop all points, Aberdeen go to Parkhead and take a draw from two goals behind, remain unbeaten, outside chance of being Champions for first time since 1985 but a real long way to go as yet. One of the most enthralling round of games there at any time this season. It's shaping up to be something.

I can see Palace nicking this ....and draw is no good for us either, but Forest seem to have taken their foot off the pedal or just run out of ideas. ..

I'm watching Leicester vs Forest and what strikes me is how much quicker they both are compared to us...

Not an accurate comparison, but I watched Liverpool/Leipzig and acknowledged the same thing. Quick passing out of the back for Liverpool and always a man open in midfield to link up to. We just don’t have that right now.hallamblue wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 8:16 pmI'm watching Leicester vs Forest and what strikes me is how much quicker they both are compared to us...

Re: Other matches.
Both teams definitely get the ball up the to the attacking third, a helluva lot quicker than we do, I'm noticing , watching this first half.
I do think we tend yo over play it at times when a get to the by line, cross the ball into box is all that's needed at times. Rather than playing it around the top of the box all the time. We'll see tomorrow, the difference in Brentford's approach (they're pretty quick too aren't they?)....
