Not sure what they showed on TV but when fans start to try to get onto the pitch to attack their own players you have serious problems. Just f*ck OFF Mccarthy please.
You know you said it was bad at half-time we somehow managed to get even worse in the 2nd half.
My ticket for Villa away turned up this morning seriously thinking f*** it I'm going to return it.

How the f*ck can a Non League side have more possession and more shots on goal playing a Champioship side, that's utterly unbelievable.

No surprise Terry Butcher was so embarrassed when asked for his thoughts on the game.

If Mick McCarthy has anything about him he'll offer his resignation, it will then be up to Marcus Evans to decide whether or not to accept it. It certainly looked tonight as if some of the players simply don't want to play for him anymore.

Last word on today as in all truth the team and manager don't deserve any more of my time after that latest episode.

Voted pre-game for a Lincoln victory and as soon as their player was put through in the closing moments you knew it was as good as over. Grudging respect for the opposition : they wanted it more and realized ahead of time we're a team devoid of confidence and invariably playing garbage.

Maybe they'll beat Brighton in Round 4, to be honest not really giving much of a sh*t about it now. Any interest in this years competition is already at an end and while giving the opposition plaudits, once again to fail on two separate occasions against a team of that level is simply unacceptable.

A lot can happen in 12 months and maybe I won't get to see this club in another FA Cup game. The 40 year anniversary will be upon us next time around and while it would be marvellous to see a victory or even get to the final one more, the chances are so minimal you have trouble even printing it.

Maybe by then there'll be a new manager, a new team : a new set-up that can provide more belief and expectation than this current amass of sub-standard bullshit, but so long as the same owner remains in place, there's going to be very little in the way of hope in the time ahead.

Will continue to look in day to day just on the off chance that Mick McCarthy has finally been removed / departed from this club and placed as far away from East Anglia as humanly possible. Evans too would be ideal, but we got to begin with the more realistic changes first and foremost.

I think Mevans needs to sit down with Mick and have a serious chat. And I think Mick would welcome that. Just like the fans, he looks and sounds like he's had enough.

I understand the Mick outs......., who's available to manage the team for the remainder of this season at least?....... My finger not on the transfer/manager pulse in England.

It was a difficult experience watching the game last night (especially as it kicked off at around midnight Dubai time) but I have to say that a few things struck me:
i. As the commentators were saying often, our team didn't seem to play like a team that is familiar with each other. Actually because of our absentees this is probably literally true. Best is not the same class as Pitman or McGoldrick and Digby did okay but is also not a patch on Webster. It takes more than one player to make a midfield engine, it takes a well practiced understanding of where your colleagues are going to be to move the ball to. This was clearly missing.
ii. 3-5-2 is generally better for us in the last few games but it looks like we are still getting used to it (this relates to the point above also). It will take longer before it looks smooth and we should be patient about this because the formation should generally produce better entertainment for us all.
iii. I would have picked Douglas too and I think he did ok last night. Lincoln were always going to press and be aggressive. I totally agree that it wasn't the game for Dozzell, especially in a team that is still growing into 3-5-2. We needed Douglas to match the Lincoln aggression with some steel and on the whole he did this. BUT we need a more mobile (younger?) version of Douglas for the future. Otherwise the forwards are disconnected too much from the midfield.
iv. Given the points above and the fact that we don't even have enough first team regulars at the moment to fill the subs bench, I think Mick set up to try to resist for as long as possible and nick it late in the game. For the last 10-15 minutes I thought Lincoln looked tired and we were starting to look better around their box. I really felt that in extra time we would have done them.
v. In the light if iv. why were so many defenders going up for that free kick. Lawrence wasn't the only one back for the goal because nobody could be bothered to chase back (as was suggested), in fact he was back because he took the free kick and everyone else was in the box. That's madness.
vi. Emmanuel looks promising and even Knudsen looks ok in 3-5-2 although as the TV did point out, he was often coming too narrow instead of spreading the play.
vii. The ref was a little lenient on Wood with his challenges on Lawrence, as they said on TV he should have been given better protection, but then again Berra was playing it close to the line with his methods for holding the chunky attacker (forgot his name).
viii. Lincoln are well organised and know each other well. I was impressed with them. But they will be well beaten by a Brighton team that are the finished product and not a work in progress as we are.
Let's keep working on 3-5-2 and focus on getting in the right personnel to make it work. Then once we are experienced with this system players like Dozzell will be able to make an impact against teams like this and we will be able to start to dominate games. This game came at the wrong time for our injury hit squad and for our development of a new system.

A work in progress since RK was sacked. Jaysus H....... We will all be dead before that term goes away and ITFC are worth missing The Big Bang Theory for. I wonder if they'll actually make the EPL before the next Supernova. Yes, Owen....... I'm very VERY stupid. I missed Sheldon & Co for that pish!

having been at the match I am totally dismayed with how bad that was. I have seen some shockers this season, Brentford (a) Newcastle (a) Rotherham (h) Nottingham Forest (h) Fulham (h) to name just a few, but we could include most home games in the "shocking" category.

Anyway before I start with the match itself, I personally never want to see Leon Best or Jonathon Douglas with an Ipswich shirt on again. Leon Best didn't look interested and didn't win a single header, useless! and Douglas, whilst not his worst performance, we don't need him, Skuse was bad too but Douglas has NO pace whatsoever and was struggling to even time his tackles which as I see it is pretty much the only thing he offers us when he is half decent. We must be able to do better than this!

The game itself, absolutely huge congratulations to Lincoln, I think on the balance of the 2 games I would have been embarrassed to have actually won that! They were by far the better side, the worrying thing for me is they looked technically better than us and that's inexcusable, they also had so much more passion, fight, desire and probably should have won the game more comfortably. I wasn't all that impressed when I heard our lineup, moreso because MM lied to us again, he promised a strong lineup, well im afraid that was not our strongest team by any stretch. Lawrence had a quiet night and it showed that when he doesn't drag us out of trouble we are woeful. In the first half Berra was having a shocker, that system at the back really doesn't suit him, but it does suit Chambers who I thought did OK.

I don't really have much to add, and I don't confess this to be any kind of match report, but I am not happy with where the club is at, its not as if we controlled the game and had chances, we got completely outplayed for 180 mins against a team 3 leagues below us. The Ipswich fans quite rightly made their feelings known at the end, we deserve better, we deserve answers. I remember not so long ago Mick telling us what a great job he has done as the fans were saying "the players had downed tools" before he came in and he said that would never happen with this group of players. Sorry Mick but that's exactly what they did, and if you gave them a bollocking at HT it didn't work so they are clearly not taking your comments on board.

Time for big changes, ultimately the owner but that wont happen, MM needs to leave for no other reason than to unite the fans a bit more, as this will not stop. If we win on sat it will be OK again,, but if we lose the following week at Preston all this will rear its ugly head again. It has to change....NOW

There was enough regular first-teamers there on show last night. Sorry - you're trying to paper over the cracks and it's not helpful. Work in progress this is not - its death by a thousand cuts and has been happening for a long period of time. No need to focus on their goal - we were effectively beaten before that. By that stage, I was so embarrassed and angry - I was happy enough to see them score so as to end the misery.

listening to that joke Ian Milne it seems Mick will be going nowhere. He point at the "entertaining football against Blackburn". Well I tell you what how about I list all the games of drab, apathetic sh*te and we will see which list is longer. I really am starting to dislike Ian Milne as much as I did Simon Clegg.

When will we start standing up to the puppets that Marcus Evans hires, these yes men are just the mouth pieces of our owner, they don't have a brain of their own in terms of football. Im pissed off that the club think they can treat fans this way. I even saw a quote somewhere saying ME wont make changes because a few "hothead fans" and will only consider doing it if the "sensible fans" see no return. I don't think you can call the number of unhappy fans a few anymore, some are more vocal than others, but top to bottom the majority of ITFC are far from happy at the moment and it has nothing to do with where we are in the league or even last nights debacle. That was just another nail in our coffin, im not so sure how many people are going to want to renew this time round when it comes to March time.

Was talking to some Lincoln fans coming out of the ground last night and they couldn't believe how poor we were over both games.
What it has shown once again is that a lot of our squad just aren't good enough.

Last night I watch what can only be described as the worst Town performance I've ever seen.
Firstly Well played Lincoln, to hell with the 2 legs you should have won the first game let alone the second.

For me the tie was ours to show yes we have the players to step up.
it shows we don't
our "2nd" string (with a lot of "1st" in) isn't a 2nd string at all, imho its struggling to be a 3rd string.

Lincoln knew all they had to do was mark Lawrence out of the match, and we'd be easy. and so that's how it went.
I've seen lots of people saying "the last 2 league games we've played good on the floor football" this maybe so, but what I watched last night had me nearly crying.
not because I'm upset, but through embarrassment.
Mick went for "experience" what we got was an old back 3, old centre midfield and a useless front 2(maybe not their fault the strikers due to lack of support)
there was no commitment, pace, heart or vision anywhere on the field(even Lawrence gave up eventually, and I'm not having a go at the guy.)
What Mick should have gone for was youth and pace, as the Lincoln side was fairly long in the tooth, yes put experience in the team, but if we'd have moved the ball quicker Lincoln would have tired, and we could have taken advantage of it.
Lincoln had Rhead who for me looked over weight, over aged, and over the hill, yet he had more heart than the entire Town team put together.
I just dread if we get near the play-offs again with this team, it a fluke/miracle happens and we do gain promotion, we are in real serious trouble.
We've go a 2nd team, playing as a first and every Premiership club will look at us and say " there's 6 points this season!" but like I said it would have to have a miracle happen.

I'm not in the Mick out brigade, I'll support him and the players as long as their here, but Mick got it majorly wrong last night.

Even worse...

Almost five million people witnessed the most humiliating night in Ipswich Town’s history live on television last night as the club crashed out of the FA Cup to Non-League Lincoln City.

At least that's 5m people who now know Mick McCarthy is bloody useless, and not just the 15000 diehards who get down to Portman Road these days.

This was a game where the Ipswich could have fielded a team that was completely attack minded. i would rather have gone down with at least having a few shots on goal and making their goalkeeper work a little. What an opportunity to go all out attack if you lose, which we did, at least we could have put 5 forwards on the field. To go out with the thought of trying to stop them from scoring was an absolute c*ck up. We lost anyway with the team of defensive players on the park. What lesson have we learned from that.......... we just ain't good enough.

Lessons learned?

Take the game to your opponents.

Attack is the best form of defence.

While you have the ball your opponents can't hurt you . Keep possession.

My position entirely. Put an attacking line up out there, be aggressive, after all you are the club in the higher standings. He gave them too much respect and it showed in the way the players played.

Well, I'm trying to visualise MM's post-match comments if we'd won.

He'd be saying we missed Chambo and Skusey in the first game... and Douglas added an experienced head and solidity in the midfield. And maybe a dig towards his critics from the stands.

Do you know what? Sometimes managers over-think these things because they think they're so bloody significant in the outcome of games. He could easily have just gone with the same team and approach to the last game. MM looked shell-shocked after the game as he probably thought he could strategically out-manoeuvre a non-league team. Hope it's a bloody good ego blow. He needed it.
