John Marquis ( Doncaster striker) about to sign for Town??

Seen something on FB about this tonight. This rumour has been pinging about for a week or two now. Anyone else heard anything?

Well, he's got that Frank Ribery look......, hopefully he'll play like him too.

Yes Liz, posted same thing a few days ago, not heard too much more since so maybe just an internet rumour.

Rumour control can get of hand. Could this have been misheard as we were looking at a marquee signing?

See where you are coming from Liz....But me reckons that this deal will only be done if Kieffer Moore goes on loan in the other direction...

i don't think I would want Marquis anyway to be honest. I have seen him a few times on TV and hes never impressed me. Correct me if im wrong but I don't think hes ever really made much of an impact in League 1 let alone the Championship? I think he used to be at Millwall? If so that is where I remember him from but im not convinced he would be the type of quality we need from a striker

Some folk over Derby way, are convinced that D Bent is Town bound! MM apparently casting his net far and wide - using ME's cheque book as bait. But likely as not to be another piece of wild speculation; nonetheless keeps the pot boiling until 5 Aug, when the smoke will have hopefully cleared and opinions and predictions will be either proved, or disproved. :)

I don't think we will sign anybody else, he will need to save some budget in case he needs players in January.

I still think we will bring a couple more in but as MM said, not until we ship a couple out.

I think we'll get a couple of freebies in.

No real major signings .... just squad fillers. Probably Taylor will be one.

I reckon we will bring in a target man, another defender and if the player being inquired about is Bart , another GK .

I also.think the calibre if players brought in is better and therefore I can see some of our youngsters getting some game time. Dozzell, Nydam, Flynn Downes, McDonnell) .....This is why Bru has been told he can leave.

I happen to think we will now keep Pitman. He could thrive with the anticipated change in football style.

I think Pitman could be a problem to offload due to wages. He just never looks fit.

Not sure about new style of play..... no negativity, but our manager won't be changing his philosophy that much.

I would not be too upset if Pitman were to stay, he is a finisher but just looks so disinterested at times and clearly relies on the right kind of service, I.E. ball to feet. By all accounts he was very good yesterday, albeit against a park team.

Dominic Samuel seemingly he's chosen league one rather than the Championship, because of more money

Just show his priorities really

No real loss regarding Samuel, I am glad we are not prepared to pay silly money for average players.

Here you go Hallam

Ipswich Town are on the lookout for a new goalscoring midfielder following the return of Tom Lawrence to Leicester at the end of his loan deal at Portman Road, and Mick McCarthy will scour the Football League for another man to get the goals from the middle.
Lawrence was pivotal to any success the Tractor Boys had last season, and without the Welshman, McCarthy’s side could have struggled much further down the Championship table.

It is vital that Lawrence is replaced, and the former Ireland boss could find his man in Cambridge United’s Luke Berry.
The 24-year-old was phenomenal for the U’s last year, and since returning to the club following a spell with Barnsley, has scored 29 goals in 91 league appearances, marking a fantastic return for a central midfielder.
Berry struggled when he moved to Barnsley in 2014, and will question whether the player can cut it at the higher level.

However many years have passed since that move, and Berry has developed into a fantastic young footballer, and is now ready to make the step to the second tier.
It will take a reasonable fee to convince Cambridge to part with their star man, but with Ipswich in need of goals, McCarthy should pull out the chequebook to bring the classy midfielder to Portman Road.

awh thanks KLB x........oh it's Berry is it! I'd heard we'd been linked with him. Don't know much if anything about him. But understand is supposed to be useful...MF scoring goals?? Surely not.
