No thanks, this league is not the place for a manager to learn his trade. Only my personal opinion as Klug no doubt is brilliant in his current role, but this league needs an experienced manager.
Agree totally with that. Klug is an outstanding coach. Thats not the same qualities ( in isolation) required of manager. You only have to look at the debacle up the A140 when narwich decided to give their academy coach the manager's job. Shame they didnt stick with him, they'd have been mid table now!

I agree, Klug would never make a manager, it isn't his thing, he is the best at what he does and I believe it is his very involvement at the club that is pivotal in what we are going to be doing over the next 2 or 3 seasons, the kids coming through sound really promising.

Agree - horses for courses. TC is undoubtedly highly effective as coach/assistant to MM; but possibly not so as a manager, with all the wider responsibilities that come the territory.

Could find no mention of Fulham having a game today but the league table indicates that whatever relegation concerns they may have, they seem to be safe enough. The gap between 21st and the bottom three would appear too great with so little games remaining that Fulham should surely survive and play another season in the championship league.
Point being, if the Londoners had been relegated this year then McCarthy would most likely have turned down the invitation so while there's still some belief he could actually depart for there this summer, I do hope loyalty will prove more effective than plain money.
This season is going down to the last weekend here at Portman Road it's fair to say and McCarthy will be getting as caught up in it at much as everyone else connected to the club and thinking of the possibilities ahead so right now, and at this very moment, whatever occurs, he may just decide to stay on and give it another shot if we were to miss out on a promotion at the very end.
Ok I have had some doubts in recent weeks about McCarthys future here but would like to emphasize once again that I do not want him to leave. Guess the proper time to discuss this is at the end of season when we will be aware of just what the situation is and where we find ourselves with regards league position but as each game passes in the countdown to the final game, can't help but give a mention to the man himself.

Fulham played Friday night and drew 2-2 with Wigan.
The more I think about the less likely I think it is that McCarthy will go to Fulham. I just can't see it happening.

Anyone listening to Ian Milne on Radio Suffolk yesterday lunchtime, may have thought that he was less than convincing when asked about the Fulham link, and whether MM had been approached. Certainly there was no unequivocal statement to the effect that ME will move heaven and earth to keep him. Rather, "I'm not aware of any approach"' and "Mick hasn't mentioned it to me". Taken on face value, then all is fine. Taken in the context of life on planet soccer, then I detect a typical party line being given out - totally understandably!
What is probably fact is that with 4 years' worth of parachute payments to bank (£24M this year alone), the constraints he is working under here would be less restrictive. I don't believe any of us can predict with cast-iron certainty what might happen should an approach be made. Time and events will tell.

Just going to concentrate on Cardiff, on Tuesday night; then Wolves on Saturday. Time and effort speculating on something over which we have no real insight or knowledge becomes wasted time.

I think making the top six alone by end of season could be enough to persuade McCarthy to stay on another year. He'll realize that he will be the first manager Town have had in a decade to accomplish such a thing and will doubtless take pride in his work. I think however if we
are to miss out this season, then that will make all the difference and Mr McCarthy may just be tempted with a move elsewhere. The next four weeks ahead are going to be so crucial in more ways than one.

I honestly think even if we finish 8th he will, 100% be here next season, I may be nuts but I am totally confident on that.
