Quote : Remember back in the 70's Bobby Robson team grinding out results. Even in 1978 the year we won the FA cup how bad some of the games were. Nobody complained because we won the damn cup

Keep in mind the team had finished third in the old first division the year previous if correct, and the caliber of players at our disposal, Gates, Brazil, Beattie, Mariner etc, you can't really make a comparison between then and now

Fair enough it was a disappointing league campaign when winning the FA Cup but all teams that possess great players and (have) assembled fine sides have endured at least one poor season of league form in the subsequent - and previous - years.

I think a large proportion of the say more negative of our support are overly frustrated that we can't get out of this league year after year and the last two years apart, it has been largely disappointing after since Mr Royle departed (and stranded in the same division with little hope of ever getting out)

Why do some sound like they are thumping on their damn keyboards trying to get their damn "a win is a win" point across? Chill the f**king damn out ffs.
On the contrary Marko. To be honest I think I am one of the least angry people on here, certainly when it comes to ITFC and things not going our way. You only have to look at the way most react to every result that does not go our way, that is anger, anger at the Owner, the manager, the fans, you name it, I think I keep a complete sense of perspective knowing our situation while all around go into Bipolar mode while screaming for money to be spent and the manager to bugger off LOL.

I come back to my point about enjoying the whole match day experience, not just the football itself, it is supposed to be entertainment which brings satisfaction to those who watch, I think it is safe to say reading a lot of nonsense on here at times that I take far more pleasure from it than most. I have used this scenario before but if I go to a restaurant for a meal and it is crap I sure as hell don't go back, if the football on offer is not to some peoples liking and brings nothing but misery to them why the hell go back ? Bugger off to B&Q on a Saturday afternoon instead ! Just my thoughts of course.

My post was purely in jest, buddy. The conversations on here would be so much more civilised sitting in a pub over a few drinks....., people's points of view would be understood a bit clearer; sometimes it can be very difficult to get points across with writing, without having to write a f**king novella complete with blurb and references!! Lol.

Now....... This restaurant you speak of........, what if they change chef?! You'd hear about it, you'd say, "Wife, that place has a new chef, lets go there tonight"........ Then you'd be served a plate of Knudsens spag Bol! "Nope, it's still Shyte. Defo not going back!"

Are you saying the damn preview is going to be Shyte, but "result"; at least it'll be damn there?! :D
Oh no......a complete misunderstanding of my meaning. Can't understand how that could possibly happen on this forum! 8)

You are missing the point. Ipswich were not the flowing team team then like they would become. They were hardworking, fantastic set of fighting spirit and i still enjoyed watching them because they did us proud, but i say they were not the lovely, pleasing passing team they would become. The FA cup campaign mind you was fantastic. Semi final and final especially we were dominant and played some super stuff.

Brazil didn't come into the team until after we won the cup, the two Dutchmen were a revelation but yes prior to this we were a still a great force lead by one of the greatest managers to ever grace any football team let alone Ipswich.

You are right about length of time stumbling along in the Championship, Many years since Joe left we have been a laughing stock but we are holding on our own now with far less budget than the top teams. I honestly cannot see any manager doing as good as what Mick is doing.

I did take you other post Marko as just that jesting. Well i was smiling anyway

Football is about opinions, that's fine and i'll talk and share my opinion whilst listening to anybodies else's with no problem. Its when it gets to arguing, ranting i get to lockdown mode. I just don't bother to say anything.
