Did the game start late ? Other scores would indicate we're behind on other games ?
Was fool enough to believe we could get something out of today but as the score would demonstrate it's nothing new.
How are the team doing incidentally. Are we deserving of this setback and while realize we're down to ten men but everything else aside how effective do we seem today ?

Absolutely disgraceful - boring first half. The changes at half seems to have made a difference bit always going to be difficult with 10.
No hope now.

Think MM has to take a good hard look at himself, we have been also rans for few years now and see nothing changing. Your good Mick but quite what we need.

Hats off to Neil Warnock. Absolutely BRILLIANT job he's doing. He'd do a better job that Benitez at Newcastle. Well done.
Think it's time you toddled off, Mick........, unsign that contract please. And Luke Hyam with you.

Re: Ipswich Town v Brentford preview and matchday thread
Could someone explain how this team has remained consistent in the top ten for most of the season because I'm at a loss to it right now.
There's little sense in continuing with this game. The result is just about a done deal, we're not going to salvage anything from this mess. May be worth taking the time to see some immediate reaction at the end of play but you can envisage already what's coming.
Once again other teams appear to be offering a favor regards other scores but as is our way, we mess up and can't take an advantage. Got to realize (finally) there's nothing left this season for us.

If we were to get a new Manager which I highly doubt we'd need to get him in now so he has the Summer to sort team out and bed in.

That would be the best case scenario but unfortunately it's not going to happen. If this is the way ahead for another two or three years with McCarthy then sorry, I don't want to know.lucy wrote:If we were to get a new Manager which I highly doubt we'd need to get him in now so he has the Summer to sort team out and bed in.
Lo and behold we have a home goal - first strike in four games and all against poor opposition. All too little too late unfortunately.

Re: Ipswich Town v Brentford preview and matchday thread
Game is over and despite the late Feeney goal, that was something of an embarrassment. Get it out the way now in that both Sheffield and Cardiff saw losses and today represented another missed opportunity.
I concede now that we're going to a championship team for another year, there's no chance in hell we can feasibly entertain any f**king promotion aspirations from here on and at this moment in time, take this opportunity to thank Mick McCarthy for his play-off achievement last year but for the future good of the club type up your resume and find employment elsewhere.
18,000 were in attendance today by all reports so maybe not a bad figure so to speak but it's not the amount in the crowd that will assist out of this league and if we're seriously to anticipate any progress next season, changes are going to have to be undertaken.
Commencing with the manager would be a very good place to start.

Was Chambo moved back to the centre for the first time in several years? That could be a reason......., he's long forgotten how to play there!

Seriously, some differences of opinion regarding Hyam's original tackle; no question over his subsequent retaliation when wound up by the Brentford boys. Error!
Here's wishing Alan Judge a full and speedy recovery.

Re: Ipswich Town v Brentford preview and matchday thread
Just seen some highlights,.........., JamboBerra & Chambers? Deary fkn me guys. Was like watching Sunday morning defending. Mick McCarthy just cannot be blamed for that sh!t.
Definitely in agreement that Mick should've subbed Hyam earlier. It has been discussed earlier in the season on this board about Hyam's temperament, and I have witnessed it myself on a few "Live" games. For me, he always looks a wound up laddie, as if he's ready for smashing someone's face in. That's for the amateur leagues, Luke. Get your act together, pal.

Re: Ipswich Town v Brentford preview and matchday thread
Has McCarthy provided a post-game interview yet. Can imagine along the lines of : "It was a disappointing score but at least we scored a goal and you got to take into consideration we had a man dismissed and Brentford are stellar opposition.."
Thing is at times in the past you could advocate for the managers departure and while a minority would agree on the course of action you would get berated left and right by a majority for having that opinion. Lo and behold we've arrived at a point in time where I'd estimate some 90 per cent of the fanbase are in favor of McCarthy's exit and while won't suggest the other ten per cent are walking around blind without a cane, it's their opinion and they're entitled to it.
I thought after least year we had made progress but there's as much hope and expectation as when Keane and Jewell had their way the direction this is headed. Still irritates to a certain extent McCarthy's "Let's focus zero attention on Cup games and put all emphasis on the league" bullshit, only for embarrassing scores and let downs directly after cup eliminations.
All we got left is playing out a handful of immaterial fixtures while other teams that showed enough heart and desire make their way in the promotion race. I wouldn't state the season's been a complete write-off as somehow we've been in and around the top ten for most of the campaign (once more how does it seem possible) but there's been too many instances of garbage performances, sub-standard scores and a general feeling of "f*ck this, we're not promotion material so why even try" from various personnel.
Maybe tomorrow I'll view McCarthy in a more favorable light but why change opinion ? Say again he did well for a time, but this season has been a substantial disappointment and as the one who picks the team and oversees the players, he has to take the lions share of responsibility. If I happened to read any time soon that he'd accepted a position at Aston Villa (or anywhere away from Portman Road for that matter) it would be a feeling of unambiguous relief and gratitude.
