Villa's results do not represent how they have been playing. Not over confident about this game, just hope Town did not use up all there luck at Derby!! Saying that, we had no luck against Wolves, Norwich or Reading. We could of been top with 7pts we should of had from those 3 games.

This is what I fear, straight from MM's mouth (via TWTD)

“ You just worry playing a team like this that they don’t just turn up and it’s their day, that they turn up and all of a sudden every one of them plays well and it clicks and you think, ‘Wow, where’s that been?’.

“I think that’s the danger with teams with so much quality, that on any given day it could be their day. We’ve got to stop them having their day.”

But despite my fears and having read some arrogant Villa fan's comments, I really hope we win!

Quite a bit from MM, pre- match, talking about team selections, tactics, defending as an art and how he's about to appear on Bake Off!

Hoping for a cracking, entertaining match this afternoon, ending in a 2-1 win. You just never know....!

Although I predicted a nailed on 1-1 draw my biggest worry these days is where our single goal will come from.

I've just been looking a the pre match facts and been reminded that we've scored only four goals in our last seven games in all competitions, never scoring more than once, how poor is that.

One of my longest living memories of supporting Town goes back to Ray Crawfords diving header to put us in the lead against Villa on the last day of the 1962 season. We went on to win 2-0 and seal the First Division Championship at our first attempt. That day I was one of many kids sitting on the pitch behind the goal to the left at Churchmans end and can picture the goal so vividly as if it was this morning.

For those of you not around at the time;

The thing is Charny, we have lost only 3 of our last 15 league gamnes if you go back into last season too so despite us not being prolific we are cleary pretty tight at the other end too. Another 30 1-0 wins will do for me.

Villa are struggling to score too Mike, in fact they've only scored one away goal so far this season in three games played and that was in their 3-1 defeat at Bristol City.

We could well be in for a boring 0-0 draw,

That said we'll probably now get a win with a 3-2 thriller. (If only)

Well as much as I would love a 3-2 thriller with loads of free flowing football I will take a boring 1-0 win over a defeat any day of the week.

I think most of us would Mike, I just hate losing however exciting the game may have been.

I do understand the likes of Rossi though who get fed up of long journeys to games that bore you shitless, especially when it comes to the long journey home. Given some of the journeys I've made to watch Town games I've far too often driven home wondering why the hell I've bothered. Eventually common sense prevails.

If those words are accurate......., they are from a man who, deep down, knows his team are fairly Shyte in the grand scheme of things and has very little confidence in them. Otherwise he wouldn't be as concerned about the "possibility" of Villa having a "good" day. Also the clue is in there with his use of the word "quality".

You can only really concentrate on finding a solution for this team to have their day, Mick, make them click and win convincingly.........., and let's hear the ITFC fans say, "Wow, where's that been?"

Trust me I totally understand the feelings of fans who travel a long way to games only to see poor football and clearly a decision has to be made as to if it is worth it. As I have said on many occasions for me the social aspect is as much of a incentive as the football so I think I deal with the negative football and poor results better than most.

That's it n a nutshell. Every supporter is unique; with differing priorities and expectation levels, boredom levels, satisfaction and frustration levels etc. Each gets something different from the game, including the motivation to keep on supporting - in good times and bad - or not.

Having absolutely no power to affect the manger's team selection or tactics, the only sanction remaining is to stop attending, though not necessarily stop supporting. The issue then becomes, at what point do I make that decision? For some, it will be never, for others - around 1,000 ST holders this season - that point has been reached. More may follow; yet if things change, more may join or come back. That's football.

Can I guess that those are the days where the company has been as equally sh*t as Ipswich?

Can only think of two occasions where I've travelled a distance home from watching Hibs wishing I hadn't bothered. Both times I'd went on my own. Having to travel home on my own with this boring git!

But EVERY other experience, win, lose or draw has been memorable for good reasons. Even last seasons League Cup Final defeat to Ross County was a bloody awesome day. Ended up in a Glasgow Karaoke bar.

You're not wrong there Marko, most of the journeys have been on my own as there aren't many Town fans in the East Midlands to travel with. I could cope with journeys from Chelmsford and Norwich but when it became Leeds, Nottingham and Leicester the distances became to far to carry on as a season ticket holder and when it becomes pay on the day it's easier to give it a miss and then simply get out of the habit of going.

From my point of view I hope we play a line up something like this :-

.......................Bart....................

Chambo...Webster...Berra.........Knudsen

............Skuse.......Douglas...............

Ward...........Bishop...............Grant...

................Pitman.........................

We have the option to change it to a 4-4-2 should it not be working and with Lawrence, Best, Varney, Sears & Bru on the bench we should have plenty of options open to us. Villa have sold their allocation so I hope the Town fans turn out in greater numbers than last time. A draw would not be a disaster but Three points would do wonders for our league standing at this early stage.

CAPTION....."Why the f*ck did I look in on those ITFC fans forums....depressing or what !!"
I sincerely hope the starting line-up is nothing like this - 2 holding midfielders and a lone striker at home is SO negative and defensive.
If this is the starting team, then what will happen is that Berra Chambers and Knudsen will hoof the holding midfielders and midfielders completely out of the game, and Pitman wins so little in the air as a target man that the ball will repeatedly come straight back at us.

I agree with Andy that Pitman needs a partner, it doesn't matter to me if it's Varney or Leon Best, but 2 strikers please. Then, only one holding midfielder required, and try our most creative midfielders together and go out and attack Villa from the start.

If we did this, I'm pretty sure we would get a result - sadly I do expect MM to play the more defensive option and in that case I think we will lose, and some would argue that we would deserve to.

You have your wish Rossi with Pitman and Sears upfront hopefully this will make us less defensive.

Give me the f**king strength!! No wonder I get angry at "referees" masquerading as referees! Useless, incompetent ARSEHOLES!

Anyway......, looking forward to reading an attending supporters report from Portman Road.

Out best chances in the game came in the 8 minutes of added on time.
