Hmm, this subject is always a strange one for me, being Norfolk born & bred! I get used to hearing the many derogatory terms associated with people from my birth county; carrot crunchers, turkey f*****s, inbreds etc and I just laugh it off. My view point is that you have got to just be able to laugh at yourself as at least it means someone somewhere else is being spared! I'm not looking for reasons to be offended, which is sadly (imo) more of a trait these days!
I am not saying that any form of name calling is acceptable, indeed if you wanted to be picky I guess 'Tractor boys' could be seen as derogatory in a way! Of course there may be some linking factors to these insults, however loose. There are a lot of tired old stereotypes which really are no longer valid, if they ever truly were but me personally, if they're aimed in the direction of my county, so what. I know Norfolk is a beautiful county, and unlike the tales of another recent post calling Norwich fans various terms, I know those people are in a tiny, narrow minded minority and that the vast majority of people would distance themselves away from them.

No. "Scots" to a Scotsman is not offensive at all. I hope English people do not think that. 100% guarantee we are ok with it.
(I think that's what you are getting at here, Steve......., please excuse the sweaty socks ignorance!)

AM, it's no secret that I am not a lover of norwich fans. It's fair to say, we have a mutual disrespect. I find it hard to be civil to them, simply because they are rarely civil or courteous to us.... and so the cycle continues. But I will add that I respond in kind. If someone is respectful to me, I'll respond the same.
As I've said on here before, I do personally know one of two norwich fans, and shock amazement, we do get on just fine, becuse we have a mutual respect, and there is leg pulling
( banter) going on between us..although I've had precious little I could throw at them - until now! Now it's both barrells and payback time.
However I would like to say to you publicly, that I'm sorry if any of my posts on here about " the scum" have offended you. I'm referring to a specific section of the norwich fan base, not people from " norfolk". I hope that makes sense. And you're right, Norfolk is beautiful county, as is Suffolk. We're lucky to live in this part of the country, and ITFC will always be the Pride of Anglia (not that you'd believe it if you ever watched About Anglia or BBC News)!

There is no need to apologise Liz, absolutely no offence caused or taken. Scum isn't a nice term, but embarrassingly I have thrown it at Norwich fans at local derby matches in the past, so who am I to talk. Incidentally there's only one chant/song I refuse to join in with and that's the one aimed at Delia! I just don't get that level of vitriol aimed at an individual, but that's just me.

Yup, the letter 'T' is completely redundant in the middle of a word.marko69 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 9:55 pmWait for the Essex here, Mauz
