I'd heard from a friend of mine who's nephew wasnt best pleased with Woolfie when he had made a concerted hit on this guy's partner a while ago, despite being told to sling his hook in no uncertain terms.Bluemike wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:59 pmPut it this way, I'm definitely not Woolfy's biggest fan by any means and never have been but the performances he put in across the first Three games besides Greaves was way better than anything I've seen from O'Shea who for me is bang average at best.
Having heard rumours from a very good source that there was a difference of opinion between Woolfy and Mckenna a few weeks back it could very well see him depart in January, I just hope Burgess and O'Shea follow him out the door too, bizarrely Edmundson was probably better than all of them.
I've always felt he's a bit of an arrogant sod, tbh and perhaps he's not taken well to the competition in the club for 1st team places that exists.
With regards to O'Shay, I don't see him any worse than Woolfenden, but I do think he has more physical presence than Woolfie, but I agree, O'Shay hasn't set the world alight as a CB like Greaves has. But maybe McKenna sees a more natural CB in O'Shay that can be developed, than he does Woolfie.
Personally I've always been hard pressed to see why some on twtd put him up on a pedestal and gush over him the way they do, because for me he's always been basic, at best. I don't think he's a natural defender, but I'm hard pushed to identify where his best position in a team would be. If he does leave in Jan, I wont be shedding any tears. Id rather we got in better CB's, and to stay up I think that's exactly what this Club will be doing.
As for Edmundson, I'd agree he was one of the better ones of the three ( Burgess, Woolfie and Fridge), but he was sacrificed ( being played on his non dominant, left side), to accommodate Woolfenden!
