Like David Wagner when he joined Huddersfield or Carlos Carvalhal when he went to Sheff Wednesday. I’m up for trying something different but would prefer some experience as I think some of our senior players will need some managing.

Re: Next Manager Rumour Thread (Poll Added 2/4/2018)
I'm with Ricco. I don't see that the 'trying something different' phrase has much meaning for us.
Also if we are going to try a director of football + coach team then someone experienced like McLaren might have made a good director of football IMO, if paired with someone younger like for example Lampard. Honestly though I don't see ME as interested to pay two major salaries when he could pay one (+ backroom of course).
Have to be honest the rumours mean little right now and the bookies numbers mean absolutely nothing other than what bets equally uninformed people are placing. Personally I'm just ignoring all this until it's announced as there is no way that we are going to hear anything until all the interviews are complete, and as many have pointed out, that is not likely to be until after playoffs are done.

When you say senior players need managing do you mean that they won’t have the respect for a manager from the lower leagues?
I can see that being an issue if, say, Chambo doesn’t like tactics, team selection, etc that strays from the Mick way. Senior players like Chambo are important for the dressing room to keep the team together, but they shouldn’t rule the club.
Many of the worlds top managers have very modest playing careers and have had to cut their teeth at the start by instructing better players how to play.
I’m not sure experience is all good. Along with all the good aspects of experience, there are failures on their record - and ambition and enthusasiam can be replaced by just trying to survive.
It’s a gamble whatever happens, but I prefer to go for a younger manager. If these guys are never given a chance then it will just be the same merry-go-round of same faces at different clubs. I would prefer to fall flat on my face having tried something a bit fresh, than same old, same old. Having said that, I bet Cardiff are very happy giving their old kid on the block a go.
I just think at this club it’s time to freshen things up....

Re: Next Manager Rumour Thread (Poll Added 2/4/2018)
I don’t believe there would be an issue with young manager v senior pros. In some respects it might prove less problematic than appointing someone off of the merry-go-round, with fixed ideas and an old school mentality - who would also want to bring their own support team. Something ME appears to have ruled out.
The personal and professional qualities of our seniors, in wanting what’s best for the team and club, suggests that they would want to support an innovative, younger, guy. Indeed, Chambo’s had an insight with BK - who will also remain on board to be an invaluable source of advice and link to the senior squad. In many respects, he could easily fill a football director type role, should ME opt for a younger manager.
Can’t imagine, therefore, a similar situation to that experienced by Sir Bobby in his earliest days. He sorted it very quickly, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Anyway, whose name is going to pop up today?

I'm with Herforder, I dont see there would be a problem, there has even been talk of Chambo & Skuse moving into management/Coaching etc, possibly even at Ipswich so it would make little sense to be a disruptive influence

Re: Next Manager Rumour Thread (Poll Added 2/4/2018)
There isn't a problem with younger guys being made boss of bigger clubs and dealing with senior pros. Alex Neil is testimony to this. They were a decent side pi$$ing about near relegation with Neil Adams in charge........ In walks Alex in January and they're f**king promoted in May. It can happen.
If it's to be Paul Hurst then he'll need to adopt an Alex Neil attitude and take no Shyte, (if he hasn't got that attitude already)
Neil Lennon coming out with some outrageous bullshit this morning after the Jambo b*stard game last night. If that childish c*nt decides to fk off, I'd take Alex Neil in a heartbeat. If he can cut it up in the "much better" English Championship, he can no doubt do a job in the SPL.

In the EADT today, St Mirren have just given permission for Town to talk to Jack Ross. Sounds as if he’s a genuine target.

I just meant it's not a new name to pop up. It's new that they're f**king serious about it. Jaysus H.
Well, the rivals took a punt with a Hamilton Accies boss, why not a St Mirren boss? Fk it. Go for it.

Bloody hell .... BetVictor doesn’t waste much time.
Jack Ross installed as 1/2 favourite.
I guess his season is tied up without play-offs so Town can move on him now.

Carlos Carvalhal will leave Swansea at season’s end. Wonder if he’ll be on ME’s radar? Probably not for us.
(Tim Sherwood amongst those interviewed by ME so far. Seriously hope it ended in....’and it’s a no from ME, Tim’!)

There is a photo in the BBC's articale on Carvalhal of Chris Coleman and Kit Symons saying they have been linked to the Town vacancy whilst touting them as an good fit for Swansea!

Ian Holloway has left QPR - slightly surprising at timing, but when hearing the jungle drums regarding the club’s intention to appoint SMcL, obviously decided to jump ship now.

Holloway’s done his job for Town.... gifting a job for McClaren and keeping him away from us.
Remembering some of the comments in support of Mick in the past, regarding the fans and the owner who sold all Micks best players..... I don’t think Holloway will be walking up the A12 to us.

Don't ask me why but I just cannot get any excitement over the potential appointment of Jack Ross, I mean Jack Ross FFS, cant profess to know an awful lot about him but I just feel flat at the thought of it if i'm honest, he could well get the job and go on to be a massive success, just as Forfar could reach the Scottish Prem, it ain't gonna happen.

Well I'm and Ipswich and St Mirren fan. I can tell you that Jack Ross is an outstanding talent. I lived in Ipswich for 4 years in 89-93 and was season ticket holder.Bluemike wrote:Don't ask me why but I just cannot get any excitement over the potential appointment of Jack Ross, I mean Jack Ross FFS, cant profess to know an awful lot about him but I just feel flat at the thought of it if i'm honest, he could well get the job and go on to be a massive success, just as Forfar could reach the Scottish Prem, it ain't gonna happen.
Jack Ross is the best talent to come thro SMFC since Fergie. If you get him you are on a winner. Not sure he'll take it unless the investment in the club is adequate.

Very convincing Championship league title for St.Mirren, Valley. I think the buddies could be a mid table team next season. But you must be a bit irritated that Jack is being linked to other clubs? Especially if he's the best since Sir Eck.valleyroad wrote:Well I'm and Ipswich and St Mirren fan. I can tell you that Jack Ross is an outstanding talent. Re: Next Manager Rumour Thread (Poll Added 2/4/2018)
Kind of interested in Ross as has gained a number of accolades it would appear but skeptical about bringing in a name that seems so obscure outside his current employers. Maybe one for the future that could do a job elsewhere but believe a move to the second level of English league following a short time managerial experience within a lower Scots league outfit remains questionable. Not the worst candidate that has been mentioned by any means but would still prefer to look elsewhere.
Seems Evans is moving his as* to considerable extent to hunt and enquire potential new managers but as before the array of names mentioned at times would appear more cause for concern than hope or expectation.
