Re: Charlton Athletic v Ipswich Town preview and matchday thread
Final word on today's game, and while the opposition may have been distracted by the absence of a full-time manager, take nothing away from our own teams effort out there. Middlesbrough will be a tougher nut to crack but on the evidence of recent games and our own players capabilities, see no reason why we can't get a result out of it.
Haven't seen the latest league standings, obviously the three points today would have moved us up a position or two, but still plenty of hard work needed in the months ahead if we are to obtain a play-off finish once again. Best thing from today other than the points themselves : our leading attackers are finding form once more and hitting the goal. May well it continue.

Finally got home from a very long day, but I'm so glad that my first Town away game was a really great one!
Really positive performance from everyone involved as we were very solid up front and at the back which was a huge bonus. What a player Freddie Sears is, he just doesn't stop making runs, challenging defenders, taking people on and I was so glad that he ended his goal drought today because he deserves more goals. Dean Gerken had a great game, he was in control of everything that came at him including at least two brilliant saves towards the end, probably more!
The fans were awesome and it was so good to be a part of for once, I did feel bad for the Charlton fans though, there really was nothing for them to get excited about today and it definitely showed.
Bring on Middlesbrough!

Great result with a workman like performance, and the goal difference has improved.

There is hardly any feedback on yesterday's result... maybe Hangovers.marko69 wrote:

Sorry I bring up a seriously weird obscure reference to Frank Dunnery from you....From little known 80's prog-rock band It Bites. I loved them for a couple of years..saw them at the Cambridge Corn Exchange.. Dunnery is/was a brilliant guaratist .. Crap singer though.
God knows where you get this sh*t from... But it's fun.
anyway... we've got form( not 5 games in a row) ... but we have goals and there even seems to be applauds for style of play. Clean sheet as well.... mainly due to Gerken. Freddie Sears is a diamond.... player of the year so far?

That's the stuff, Tang......, enjoy my shyte!
It Bites supported Marillion on the 87/88 Straws tour. Fell in love with them and subsequently saw It Bites themselves about 6 times......, 4 of those times at the Barras in glesga. Soon as I saw Freddie Sears for the first time, I thought, "Holy Fk, that's Frank Dunnery!"
Back to football......., Ruddy? Makes Gerken look like Oliver Khan.

You know full well there is far more feedback when we lose, as it is there is nothing to moan about so it will be quieter LOL.tangfastic wrote:There is hardly any feedback on yesterday's result... maybe Hangovers.marko69 wrote:

Should've been 5-3 Charlton. Luckily ITFC had Dino Zoff in goal.

Expect normal service to be resumed on Friday - gnashing of teeth, tearing of hair, howling at the moon: and can't imagine what it'll be like if we lose!

Must be one of the best performances by a Town keeper for a while. Hopefully this will inspire more confidence in the defenders in front of him.
Good result but completely f*cked up my weekly 3 draw bet on Ipswich, Leicester & Sheffield Wednesday.
Bring on The Boro.....
Nice time to be playing them after taking 10/12 over the last 4 games and scoring 12 goals in the process.
Maybe we can move into that 6th place slot sometime soon.

I think the Middlesbrough game is certainly winnable...they plan Everton on Tuesday as well. I think they'll be there for the taking! COYB!

Thought it was Jan Tomaszewski in goal.
