Ok, spoke too soon but it is only Morecambe they’re up against. So we shouldn’t be too surprised.

Yeh and Norwich have a two goal lead at Blackburn..
We're going to win today that much is for sure and done it in some style also. Had Hirst as first scorer so guess that counts for something.
fucks sake Plymouth gone ahead late in their game, thought we'd be league leaders a moment ago. We did what we had to do today, not sure how good the team has actually been but thought before time today's opponents may have made things tricky / made more of a contest of it et cetera.

It looks like the record is 9 games not 8 anyway Marko and it was the team of 81 that won the UEFA Cup that achieved it so no real comparison with this shitty League.

No more so than Wednesday dropping another two points at Oxford if it ends that way. It really looks like our destiny is in our own hands now which is a massive turnaround over such a short period.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 4:49 pmThat's the think, most would have that down as a Plymouth win. Burton winning is massive though

24 goals scored since we last conceded against Sheffield Wednesday on 11 February, how good is that.
Who needed to buy defenders in the January transfer window.
What a Good Friday that was.

Nice win lads.
90+10 @ the weds game....., edit, and done. Well done Oxford. Must be some heat on the SheffWed boss at the moment.

Ipswich win
Wednesday draw
Barnsley lose.
I'd have taken that all day long before a ball was kicked.
Great scenes at the full time whistle

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Wycombe Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
is this game going to overtime or something, I got things to get on with.
other promotion rivals having mixed scores. Barnsley look set to lose, Derby on the verge of victory and Bolton hanging to a one goal advantage. The former are the only ones to really worry about, but a threat's a threat.
Think our game is still underway, maybe it started late. Must be a number of stoppages or delays in play out there. Looks like we're going to occupy the automatic promotion places as SWFC seem set to tie. Catch up with game report at later time. I now got a full time of 4 - 0. We did well today.

Excellent all round performance by Town, totally deserved. Another victory another clean sheet what more can you ask for. Town move up to 2nd with a game in hand over Wednesday .

To think Barnsley could have gone level with us at one point! Now they're 6 points behind on level games! Stunning stuff! Happy flaming Easter!

Congratulations to the team and coaches, this run of form couldn’t have come at a better time and the January signings are looking inspired. Let’s finish the job now lads

After the first goal went in we were superb and it was one way traffic. Did Walton have a save to make ? I can't remember one. The way we are playing I just cannot envisage this team not going up. One game at a time though, Cheltenham next.

“Ipswich Town are the ninth team in the history of the Football League to win eight consecutive league matches without conceding, and the first since Manchester United in February 2009”

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Wycombe Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
Although we were in control throughout, we struggled early on against a team who defended well and looked like they might pose a threat on the break. I don’t think we managed a shot on target or won a corner in the first 25 minutes. Some decent play but too many overhit passes and crosses in particular.
Once we scored - a very good header - it was never in doubt. A second soon followed. I think we were a bit over anxious until the first goal, making unforced errors despite trying to do the right thing. After the first goal we looked sharper and the score was a fair reflection of our superiority.
Scoring 4 is a psychological boost for us as well as hopefully unnerving future opponents and those around us whose form is dipping. A great result and a nice couple of pints in the Greyhound afterwards.

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Wycombe Wanderers Preview & Matchday Thread
To be honest I didn’t feel overly concerned even in the first 25 minutes. Clearly they’d done their homework and nullified the threat of Morsy and Luongo ploughing their way through midfield linking with Chaplin and Broadhead and in doing so forced us to play a very narrow line down the wings. As best I recall their attacking play was non existent with little evidence of a club hopeful of securing a place in the play offs.
Whilst I didn’t expect is to score 4 I don’t think the margin really flattered us in the end.

Fantastic performance again today, brilliant to watch.
Still feel we need 5 more wins from these last 7 games.

I agree. We just struggled to create for 25 minutes but that's to be expected. Eventually the chance came and then it was all over really.Charnwood wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 9:45 pmTo be honest I didn’t feel overly concerned even in the first 25 minutes. should not have got beat at Burton Albion. Denied a clear unambiguous penalty decision that would have put them ahead and home goalkeeper made a save late on that Yashin would have applauded to deny them a point from it. So they lost, they're still a big concern to us in what remains of the season.AzzurroMark wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 5:04 pmTo think Barnsley could have gone level with us at one point! Last word on today and it all fell right for us. Didn't expect to win by such score or thought the opposition would make it tougher but you got to give plaudits to ourselves by way of character in which the win was achieved.
This is real simple math, if we win all remaining games the team is promoted out this piece of sh*t league. Not sure how many games that actual entails but it's doable and within boundaries of capability.
The Cheltenham contest up next, you expect the usual victory but kind of feel any overriding sense of complacency about how good the team may be right now could or will jeopardize the rest of season if due caution and respect aren't observed to last remaining opponents we got to get by.

Highly unlikely we will win the next 7, that would be 15 wins in a row - has any team ever done that?

Wes Burns has been back to his best this last few weeks, below taken from EADT.
Wes Burns and Conor Chaplin bromance has been wonderful to watch blossom.
Those two combined as Ipswich further crushed Wycombe’s spirits with a goal right on half-time.
Burns’ fake cross left Joe Jacobson stumbling to the floor. The Welshman then rolled a square pass into Chaplin who, in trademark fashion, set himself nicely before finding the bottom corner.
Burns now has 10 assists to his name this season, including one in each of his last five games. The last man to do that in the top-four tiers of English football? Mo Salah for Liverpool in November 2021.
