this game thread suggests a home fixture but we're actually playing away ?
The've pulled it back, it's now 1 - 1. Can't quite understand it, thought we'd breeze through today.
Six minutes remain and they equalize. Real disappointed by that but we can still win, all it takes is enough belief and opportunity in the time remain to score another victory. We got to take advantage of the Plymouth score.

You should know everything is upside down in Auckland.

Looks like elusive first win against Cheltenham may have to wait for now!

This result definitely makes the game in hand at Barnsley massive.

We'd be top of the league, if it wasn't for Walton's f*ck up!

Not fair on Walton, we would be top of the league if it wasn't for other defensive feck ups too

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Cheltenham Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Oh well a golden opportunity spurned by us today in my view. We’ve literally thrown away 3 points this afternoon. We never got to grips with the conditions or the game . They seemed to deal with it far better than us all afternoon. And once again the unforced errors rears it’s ugly head
( defensive, and the usual culprits) once again.
I actually feel gutted at this because Cheltenham were bollox in my view, and didn’t have to work to get their goal. Barnsley are now right up our backsides and we’ve still to go to their place . Automatic promotion far from a certainty in my view.

I got full time there as a 1 - 1 draw. Stats indicate we had far more chances / possession et cetera but a point it is. First reaction one of frustration, no need for profanities it won't do no good but right now feel let down and a sense of anger. They took a victory from us with minutes remaining, it's tough.
The winning run had to come to and end but didn't think it'd be today and against this caliber of opponents. SWFC and Barnsley got or going to get wins although Plymouth lose by all accounts. Not going to view the league standings it' be too painful right now. Real disappointed but not sure how well the team actually played today.
Catch up with game report / analysis at a later time. Could say something regrettable if dwell on this so soon after final score.

That is so annoying.
If Cheltenham scored a worldie or worked hard to get that equaliser - then fair enough...but that was just a nothing ball to the edge of the box, a terrible decision by Walton but still Woolfenden didn't even need to head the ball. Burgess was behind him - but Woolfenden, for some reaon, decided to head the ball straight to bloody Alfie May. Absolute clown-like defending against a team that really didn't offer that much going forward.

Slightly more negative than anticipated, guys. Just off a 9 clean sheet run. Give them a f**king break FFS.

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Cheltenham Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Pretty fair comment given we probably wouldn’t even be in contention for an automatic place if it wasn’t for some of Waltons recent performances. That said if he comes off his line like he did he should be shouting at Woolfie to get out of the way. I suspect the wind also played its part and held the ball up from reaching him.ipswichtownNo1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:03 pmNot fair on Walton, we would be top of the league if it wasn't for other defensive feck ups too

That was sh*te. Don't know what Walton was doing? If he did shout why did Woolfie head it ? Hirst unlucky and some of our decision making in the final 3rd was not good. There were a couple of times when Burns was free just inside the box and wasn't played in. It's still in are hands so not all doom and gloom.

Yep. Though disappointing, we're still in a much better position than I expected with 8 games left. Still unbeaten in13 or 14 is it? Plymouth and sheffield have dropped point enough for town to now have it in their own hands and I'm sure Ipswich will finish strongest out of the three teams, probably squeezing into second, which is fine by meCharnwood wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:08 pmPretty fair comment given we probably wouldn’t even be in contention for an automatic place if it wasn’t for some of Waltons recent performances. Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Cheltenham Town Preview & Matchday Thread
Disappointing today, these games happen but as the pressure to win is very high it makes it hard to take.
I’d say we need to win 4 of the last 6 and draw 1. Was good Plymouth lost though.
Going to be nervy! Need six points from these next two games otherwise there is huge pressure to get good results from the 2 difficult away games (Peterborough and Barnsley).
Certainly a missed opportunity today and we really should have been out of sight, but conditions certainly played their part and it felt like playing a non league side in an FA cup tie today.

I was just making an observation. Pretty unfair on Wolfie, he also has been involved in the clean sheets. I think the collision knocked the momentum from the ball hence Wolfie’s header being too weak. No way should Walton have been that far off his line.Charnwood wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 5:08 pmPretty fair comment given we probably wouldn’t even be in contention for an automatic place if it wasn’t for some of Waltons recent performances. 1min later Walton was out of his goal on the by line . Suicidal IMO!
Woolfie May have been hit by Walton today , but I see him every week and trust me he can’t header a ball to save his life, certainly not under pressure in our box. It invariably goes straight up in the air and he never clears his lines. He’d be the first I’d replace if we go up ? Or even if we don’t). I don’t rate him or Edmundson at all.

Another observation, so don’t kill the messenger. I think Hirst should have stayed on. He was on fire and has proven to be a better finisher than that other Lad.
Not the end of automatic, for sure. We’ve been on a great run! One more thought, Harness should be harnessed to the bench.
COYB!!!

Re: League 1 - Ipswich Town vs Cheltenham Town Preview & Matchday Thread
I was texting Mike during the game, that I thought Harness was not effective. The attacks always seemed to come to and end once he received the ball. He doesn’t seem able to do this one touch passing that the majority of the team can conjure up.
If Broadhead is missing from the next games I’d have either Edwards or Jackson in ahead of Harness. But neither are an equal to Broadhead unfortunately.

Yep you guessed it, another observation. I really like the look of Harry Clarke. I think he’ll be a great servant to the club and he’s another example of MA’s & KM’s eye for talent.
