Their own fault for keeping hold of Van Nilstelrooy for too long. Great player no doubt but trying hand at managerial capacity, it was only going to go one way. If they had got rid by now and installed someone with in so many words "greater efficiency" they would have been in a more less threatening position. Brought in on themselves by selecting a clearly inadequate choice from day one.

All three promoted teams from last year are going to drop back at first attempt. Suppose you could dress up the situation in your words but all told it doesn't present a very good advert for the EPL.

If Brum win at Posh tonight they will clinch promotion back to the Championship from League One with 6 games to spare!

They're currently winning 1-2

Great heroic performance with Aston Villa today. Took the return fixture and a victory with it. Came from two goals behind to win the game.

Whether you're for them or against them it's simply some turnaround to procure a win from that position. At one point they were trailing 1 - 5 on aggregate score and in the end came real close to some fantastic victory. At least they won the second game, did themselves proud. Must have been some event there, something for the ages.

PSG hopefully now can take on and beat 'a North London opponent' in the semi-final games. All respect to AVFC but they wouldn't have been the same threat as the French in the last four. The Paris team possess a better chance of winning the tie and perhaps even go on, win the damn thing.

How the f*ck does Norwich City having five goals put beyond them at Carrow Road fail to get a mention.

That was immense, Portsmouth a no big hitters in the Championship League yet they go there, and run riot to score five times. Lost count number of instances on the Pink Un where we (particularly this season) lose a game or endure a setback and they're falling over themselves to add insult or provide some level of sting attack. This time it's their turn.

Thats promotion all but over for them, hope every fan suffered as each Portsmouth goal went in. Tough to add anything other without use of sardonic profanities.

It did raise a chuckle with me, no play offs for them this season and that's confirmed. Looks like they are a club very much going backwards under their new owners and manager. Mind you they will almost certainly somehow fluke 6 points off us next season.

Pompey haven’t won many games if any away from home all season I think. So I am extremely pleased about that result. The ground was virtually empty before full time whistle went lol and those that remained “ boooooooooooooooooed” lol. Can’t wait for Sargent and Sainz to leave them in the summer. Lose them, it’ll be a relegation struggle next season. But I’ll out my house on it those bar stewards still beat us !

Big guns like Manure, Spurs and Everton, (and West Ham? they a big gun? ), can really thank Soton, Foxes and unfortunately ITFC for being so feckin shyte this season. Could've been so much more interesting if any of those three performed better. Always great when a "big gun" gets relegated. Like Aston Villa a few years back.

Watching Leeds thrashing Stoke. Reminds me of our promotion day last season where there is all of the excitement and then a bit of an anti-climax as there is still the whole second half to try and keep the feeling going. Bet there are a fewnof the fans there who have trepidation about being in the PL after being so dominant in the Championship as well. Will be interesting to see how they fare next season (badly, I hope 😂😂).

I'm just pleased the likes of Leeds and Burnley will be promoted today. That's them out of the way next season.

Leeds are doing yo Stoke in their must win game today, what they did to us last season. Hit us quick and hard. At least they show up!....

As you say though, will be interesting to see how they do next season. I dont think theyll do any better than us tbh.

I'm fairness, the top two teams were always gonna get promoted.

I think Burnley will fair better than Leeds because Burnley have proven they can defend. Defending is paramount for smaller clubs stepping up to the PL and Burnley will have recent experience with that. Maybe Kieran will “learn” something from that?

Only 15 goals against for the whole season, I believe.

By comparison, we have 71 goals against, so far. I think.

The only team in the Championship with more goals conceded than us is Plymouth at the bottom. Of course Leicester and Southampton have conceded more goals than us in the PL….for what it’s worth.

Have Burnley genuinely sussed out how to defend? They obviously have in the Championship and only 15 goals conceded is actually fantastic. Incredible stat.
They conceded 78 last season in the EPL.
Ok, obviously a marginally a different team, but can comparisons be made over different leagues?

Be very hard to bet against Leeds, Burnley and whoever else to not continue the past two years trend of who’s relegated.

The other end of the spectrum is the relegated clubs themselves. Got to hope & 🙏 Ipswich don’t do a Luton Town. Which could be a very real thing if the club do go down that “find a new boss” route.
Even though KMcK looks thoroughly peed off, hopefully he sticks around for (at least) the Championship season. Don’t give the club that “3 new managers merry-go-round” headache, Kieron.

Don’t forget Marko, Scotty Parker has promoted 3 teams to the PL. Granted, he hasn’t had a very good record once he’s gotten to the PL which is certainly food for thought. But it seems like he’s learned a lesson or two about defending regardless of the division. I’ll reserve judgement of Parker until next season as far as his progress (if any) as a PL manager.

And btw, defending well isn’t just a Mick McCarthy strategy. Tactics come in all shapes and sizes. Consequently, if a particular philosophy isn’t working, top managers have to adjust. Sometimes due to a squad’s limitations adjustment may be difficult, but in my view there at least needs to be an attempt.

Anyway, I don’t want folks to think I want KM to leave even though I’ve made a few contentious comments about him. I really want him to succeed at the highest level with ITFC. It’s just been a frustrating season, and I know we could have done better.

ManU playing a 3-4-2-1 formation against Bilbao today. I wonder if that could work for ITFC?

Hasn’t the manager played that all season (unsuccessfully)

I think we play 4-3-2-1? Do you mean Manu? They just beat Bilbao 3-0 in the Europa league semi final first leg. ManU controlled the midfield comfortably. Not sure what you mean?

Luton Town drop from EPL to League One in successive seasons. I don't care so much what they get up to but it made a splash on this weekends results and you can take a moment to feel a certain sympathy with their fan base.

Derby County survive a fall into League One and Bristol City will feature in the play off extensions with a chance of top level soccer from August. Leeds win the second division by way of goal difference. Not a statistic or achievement for everyone.

Sorry I meant, Man U played that formation all season and have sucked massively, so why would we want to try it?

I personally would like to see 4-3-3 but we dont have the players for it.
