Bollocks it may be but the bookies are never far wrong so we are safe to assume that much of our bollocks isn't far off the mark.

Have we got any photos of Maurice Steijn’s high end Mercedes with Dutch plates which was parked outside an Ipswich hotel 6 or 7 weeks ago?

I can only imagine he failed the first interview when he came across.

I remember they used to fish the balls out of the River Severn using coracles that we’re booted out of Shrewsbury’s Gay Meadow.

I haven’t heard of any high-end coracles berthed on the River Orwell so I’m not so sure now that Hurst is interested in the job.

ME nicked his car, then told him he hadn’t got the job!

Have to own up, it was me who spotted the Dutch Merc, and suggested it might have belonged to MS. (Probably another example of total you know what)!

Had actually been to Gay Meadow in those far off man-in-a-boat ball boy days. Will keep on the look-out for a Gucci coracle next to the Salthouse hotel!

Quite frankly, I’m a bit disappointed in the lack of BS rumour mongering. The high end Merc was probably the best one. Surely someone’s knows a estate agent who’s showing Ross around some Suffolk property... or McClaren having a tuft cut at an Ipswich hair salon..... or Hurst seen talking with Milne over a sausage roll at a Greggs.

Not strictly on message, but MM reportedly very keen on the Stoke job - may be in the running for it.

Looking forward to local media headlines if he gets it, and returns to PR next season.

Sunderland? Oh dear. English League One and Scottish managers haven’t got a good record, Paul Lambert and the canaryfkers aside.

 How about we look at the If what situation arises, say Ross says no I'm staying at the Buddies  then Shrewsbury beat The Millers in the play off, and he Hurst says why jump ship from one championship club to another, and says sorry I'm staying at Gay Meadow, Frank stays at the Chelsea youth as it pays better than the Ipswich managers position, Grayson moves to the Sunderland job, Chris Coleman suddenly becomes the bookies 2-1 favourite :| Scott Parker suddenly appears a 4.1 close runner, Tim Sherwood stays at 8.1, then at the death ME appoints Holloway, and every fan says well F**K me we didn't see that one coming

I think the prospect of Frank Lampard coming to Town for his first managerial appointment is a real possibility. He’s spent the last two years qualifying for his UEFA A coaching license which I understand he now has, and has publicly stated his intention of moving into club management.
When I lived in Colchester I saw his mum & dad a few times in Stoke by Nayland, I’m not sure if Frank Snr still lives there, if he does it could make a move to Ipswich even more attractive for young Frank.
I like Lampard and think he’s well balanced and well connected in the game and would be very happy to see him given his first management opportunity at our football club. I think he would engage with the fans, I think he’d improve our chances of attracting young loanees from Premiership clubs which is crucial to help balance our books, and I think he would raise the profile of our football club.
I still think Jack Ross is our No 1 choice but I wouldn’t be devastated if Evans decided to appoint Frank Lampard.

I’m trying to be more level-headed regarding Lampard.

Comparing him against Keane is a bit unfair. He would raise our profile and he comes across well.

The thing is.... I’m not really sure about his commitment to club football. It’s not only about promoting the club or calling on favours from contacts from his Chelsea days. There’s a lot of day to day responsibilities he has to deal with. He’s used to sharing dressing rooms with talented, star players who already have stardust in their boots. That won’t be the case if he arrives at PR, where he has no budget and asked to squeeze out more from relatively average players.
He’s grown up in a football family, with his uncle Harry a high-profile manager. Is he really serious for a life-time commitment to management like his uncle? Frank has already a highly successful football career under his belt and he’s highly sought after as a pundit. I saw one comment from TWTD that this could be a “vanity project” for Lampard ... and that could be the case as he knows that he’ll always have a high-profile media career if the managerial thing goes tits up.

Along with his inexperience, that’s my concern. I just know that with the likes of Ross and Hurst, these guys are deadly serious about management and have been working hard against the odds and getting results.

Tang I agree with this last statement wholeheartedly. Frank doesn't make sense to me unless there is a Director of Football appointment too which seems tome to be an expensive option for a club with our financial resources.

Yes, reflects an earlier point about what might be viewed as a ‘stepping stone’ appointment for a high profile candidate. Frank L is on record as saying that he’d be interested in taking his first steps into management - if the right project were to come along. If ME did speak with him, I wonder who was interviewing who? I get the feeling that perhaps we’re not the starter project FL’s looking for. Probably the right conclusion; although I have to admit that part of me thinks he could prove an inspired choice. Risk v reward - hopefully ME’s powers of judgement are spot on!

Thinking of not giving Frank Lampard a chance because it’s too risky makes me think of Eddie Howe and where Bournemouth might be today had they not taken a chance with Eddie at a time when he had no experience and applied for his first managerial post at the tender age of 31.

Like herforder, I think FL could be an inspired choice. For one I can’t see him happy playing hoofball, that would be a half decent starting point. If he turns out to be no good he gets the sack and we start again.

As I’ve said before I’ll be happy with either Jack Ross or Frank Lampard, whichever way go and whoever we appoint it’s far more exciting than facing the prospect of another year of Mick McCarthy and his boring football.

On the subject of who’s interviewing who.

Mevans: So, Frank...... what do you know about management?
FL: Not a lot but Uncle ‘Arry says chuck money at it until it works.
Mevans (presses button on his desk phone): Next.

For me Lampard is a vanity statement and not much more, I know he has good pedigree as a player, and was involved in training the youth team at chelski but he should experience his first managerial position at a lower club. I know we are no Barcelona but this wreaks of Keane again.

Keane had experience of taking Sunderland up, Jewel had ample experience, MM was very very experienced.... None of them gave us the exciting football we all crave now.

I would be happy with Jack Ross if it were to come off (although he now also being linked to Sunderland! Which will have cash to splash), but i would alos quote like the idea of Frank.. Afterall if he is rubbish, at least it rhymes with w*nk :-)

There’s no guarantee we’ll get our first choice and there may well be compromises along the way, after all ourselves and Sunderland are both now fishing in the same pond and I guess their short list may well look very similar to ours.

Whilst Sunderland like us don’t have much money these days, they do have the added advantage of two more parachute payments, one of £35m next season and another of £14m the season after. A promise of a share of this pot could be used to persuade a new manager to choose one club over the other.
