Great performance today. I thought Charlton were a nasty, nightly team. The ref let a lot go.

I know Chappers / Ladapo scored the goals but Morsy for me was simply majestic. He drives this team forward and Luongo is the perfect MF partner.
I think we need 3 more wins from the last 5 games to guarantee promotion….
Come on Town, let’s bloody do this !!
In my opinion it’s the introduction of Massimo Luongo (free) alongside Morsy that’s made the later an even better player than he was before. Add to that our other 3 January signings George Hirst (Leicester City, loan), Nathan Broadhead (Everton, £1.5m) and Harry Clarke (Arsenal, £1m+) and you realise just how effective our current management team are.
Strange isn’t it that most of us thought we were a player of two short especially in Central Defence which is the only outfield position that wasn’t strengthened. WTF do we know !

I think his poorest decision was the nasty tackle from behind on Conor Chaplin around the hour mark, that really was nasty and a definite yellow card that went completely unpunished. Not even a free kick.

I’m getting really good at this prediction stuff!Shed on tour wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:37 amGone for a upset and Charlton to take all 3 points. Everything on paper points towards a Town win but after what happened at the Valley earlier this season feel they might just have the Indian sign over us this year.

Same here Tony.. it’s looking like it might really happen isn’t it, but can’t allow myself that luxury of thought just yet in case I jinx it !Shed on tour wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 8:18 pmI’m getting really good at this prediction stuff!Shed on tour wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:37 amGone for a upset and Charlton to take all 3 points. Town 1 Charlton 2Brilliant performance by the lads today and what really pleased me was even when the game was won all the substitutes came on and wanted to really make a impression and drive the team on for further goals. At full-time said, sod the traffic and stayed in my seat until virtually the stand had cleared to take everything in. Long long time since I’ve felt like that!

Talking of jinxing it, I have the Town away training top which I really like but the last time I wore it was at Oxford which was our last defeat. Even though I know it is ridiculous I won’t wear it at the moment just in case I jinx things!hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 8:30 pmSame here Tony.. it’s looking like it might really happen isn’t it, but can’t allow myself that luxury of thought just yet in case I jinx it !Shed on tour wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 8:18 pmI’m getting really good at this prediction stuff!Shed on tour wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:37 amGone for a upset and Charlton to take all 3 points. Lol I’m EXACTLY the same . I changed Town shirts about 2-3months ago to the Carers one with the yellow / blue badge . Our form changed from then and I won’t wear any other shirt now …. And the stitching is all coming away at the bottom lol !!

My lucky charm is going in via entrance 36 to the SBR upper. Havn't lost since we started doing that...

Wasn't just the win and manner it were achieved, the opponents are one of the more recognized names of the division. Wouldn't label them as heavyweights but they've been in the Championship and EPL in recent years. To rack up a 6 - 0 win against these, by all accounts they didn't play well or had a lousy afternoon performance, but that aside you got to give plaudits to our players and getting what is or will be one of the standout scores of the season.
Near 30,000 were there (and) over 28,500 of those were our own fanbase. This is just the kind of thing that's been missing in years past. Getting bumper crowds back to Portman Road and with it, a team and regular performance you can take pride in. Individuals such as Lambert, Cook, Hurst etc made a mess and you wondered back then if we'd ever get our club name back but the transition between then and now, even in short space of time, you can't quite put measure on it. How can a team so consistently sh*t and with near zero expectation change almost overnight into something special. It's something of an enigma but Game Changer, McKenna and Marcus Evans' departure tally up the basic explanation.
Other results today were mixed. There's rarely such thing as a perfect list of scores from any one round of games or fixtures.

4 more wins and we are promoted even if Wednesday win there last 4. That's how close we are.

Fantastic win, ITFC, proper annihilation and proper intent.

Should be another decent win again on Tuesday if Vale don't park up….., which they might. 3-0 in that case.
Dont be like QPR fan v the Vale …….. “POT FKN VOWEL”

I think 3 wins and 2 draws would have the same result so it’s completely in our own hands.mendipblue wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:08 am4 more wins and we are promoted even if Wednesday win there last 4. That's how close we are.![]()

Gutted I missed this one, managed to listen in for parts.
I feel we still need 3 wins and a draw to make auto. We must remain calm, still two huge away games to be played and we cannot slip up in the other 3 games.
Huge win today, the assist for the second goal was outrageous.

Of course we got the absolute minimum of a play-off place irrespective of all games remaining. Kind of a safety-net feature should the top two objective go to sh*t.
i don't give it much thought, just focus on the automatic promotion places like we're destined to do it. Sheffield seem too erratic and PAFC aren't maybe as strong as some would suggest, at least not like at other times this season. Barnsley most likely to cause havoc with our top two ambitions, believe we still got to face them in games remaining. Won't be winner takes all but as pivotal as pivotal can be.
