What a selfish plonker Ladapo, that should have been game over.

I hope for your sake Sunderland donโ€™t score a second, if ghetto fo you wonโ€™t be a popular bunny in the dressing room.

The time allocation system is fu*king nonsense... IMO
You need to get used to it cos this will be the new norm. It will certainly reduce time wasting which was getting ridiculous last season.
I take your point Charny....

if they're going to implement double figures of additional time for each damn game from here on people are going to lose interest fast. Just seeing this out now, we got six, seven to go. In normal circumstances guess the event would be over. If it hasn't been said already, a win (away) at these opponents for an opening fixture would represent a real fine start.

God knows what the half time talk was... But we were much more effective going forward for the first 30mins of second half... COYB

Plus my prediction league was 1-2......

Thought draw would be a fantastic result. Whatever the next best word after โ€œfantasticโ€ for this result. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Very well done, Kieron & Co.

Bitter Sweet day with the cabbage losing at home to Valleys buddies. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ Bloody long season ahead.

We were second best the majority of the first half, but somehow we kept them from scoring. Itโ€™s all about goals and finishing, and weโ€™ve done that! Great save from Hladky on that last ditch effort from Sunderland. The final result could have easily been, 5-3 in our favour. To grind out the win at the Stadium of Lightโ€ฆfirst game of the season is immense! Iโ€™m proud of our boys and the traveling support was brilliant! Safe journey home to all. Weโ€™re going up!!!

I think it reasonable to allow the team that first half back at this levels to get their feetโ€ฆ.( I doubt theyโ€™ll be a tougher venue other than Elland Rd to visit this season).

Weโ€™ll kick on from this now. And I think McKenna will have learned a bit about one or two players individual capabilities to make that step up.

Those days are indeed great. I have a memory of the early naughties when Hibs beat The Sevco 2-0 and Ipswich beat Everton 3-0. ๐Ÿ‘

But yep, the 6 v Andorra masks major issues @ ER. Itโ€™ll all lead to the eventual emptying. ๐Ÿ™

Exactly right, we were always going to need time to adjust, the fact it only took 40 mins is testament to how resilient we are, there aren't many tougher than Sunderland away.

Ive just finished watching the match as had it on record due to work. Phone turned off so as to not get comments from friends! First 20 mins Sunderland dominated and town did well to hold them out, rest of first half we looked more composed but still didn't really worry them too much until the opening goal at just the right time. Second half we came out on the front foot and got another and if chaplins effort had gone in right after how much easier it would have been on my nerves! Then Sunderland went down to ten men and with 15 mins to go I thought town would cruise it, how wrong was I!! Big big lesson for town that this league really is harder than league 1, got the result but struggled in the end against ten men.

What a result! Those 13 minutes added time seemed to take a lifetime. We really had to dig in deep towards the end but managed to see it out. Well worth the early start and glad Iโ€™m not driving back tonight. Yet again Morsy was immense.

One negative from the match, we gave the ball away too frequently. Our positioning in the first half was questionable, and better teams will have punished us. Perhaps it was a case of nerves, but we need to play our game and stick with it.

TBH 9 there arenโ€™t many better teams than Sunderland in The Championship so donโ€™t lose too much sleep over it.

Was going to berate the opposition for constantly labeled a 'big club', (or) 'hell it's one of the scores of the season already' et cetera because I don't always rate them. They or people in general expect or perceive to be a promotion favorite in any lower league they're in but often fail to deliver or fall short of whatever they're supposed to achieve. All right they got a big stadium that accommodates a number of fans but that doesn't make it so.

Thought all they amassed to was an F.A. Cup win in the early 1970's and handing the Trill Inbreds a League Cup victory but lo and behold they've actually been Champions of England five or six times in their history. Wasn't quite aware of the latter. You'd have to go way back to discover it.

Keeping it short, viewed highlights and key incidents. The goal attempt from near the half-way line from Chaplin was it was something to behold - for one moment it were in keeping with Pele in some World Cup event - and both teams could have scored right at the end - whatever time of game they were into by that point of proceeding. Vaclav seemed sharp and alert and made at least one outstanding stop.

Thought we showed a certain cutting edge today, a sharpness involved that wasn't present with ex-managers and playing staff. Maybe we were fortunate with the eventual victory but second half we seemed to impress after a less convincing first period. Always got respect for Tony Mowbray for his time with us but McKenna has proved to be something of a real hit. You can't judge seasons on one game alone but that was the start everyone here required or hoped for. Give plaudits to those who traveled so far North to take in the action. You got your rewards and then some.

I think we should bring Edmundson back in to sure up the defence - midfield link. Thoughts??

Bloody good stuff though and can't grumble with a win to start, it's going to be a long tough season though, especially if they're made to play 110 minutes of football every 3 or 4 days.
