Darren Bent... Fair Price?...

Two questions:
1. Did we get a fair price (or a price in our favour) for him?
2. Were we right to let him go for that kind of money?

Yeah, fair price and we were definately right to sell

Personally, I think we got a little over the odds for him, especially with bonuses and sell on clauses involved and he obviously didn't want to stay with us, so he's best off gone!

I thought we got a fair price for someone that is too far up himself and not the club he was playing for,so it seemed.

19 goals, 14 assist, his record in the under 21's... all for £2.5m? Thats a JOKE!
But we were right to do it, our club is worth more than one player.

Form towards the end of the season was hardly a great advert for him though!

There was no other option open to us. He wasn’t going to sign another contract with Ipswich Town, so the longer we held onto him, the more his value would decrease, until we would eventually have to give him away in a year’s time.
Where would we then have found the money to satisfy the CVA agreed business plan that is fundamental for the survival of ITFC?
Maybe some of the people who say we shouldn’t have sold him can come up with another way of funding £2.5m of payments?

I have to say we got a fair price and it was a good time to sell. I haven't rated Bent for a while now and if we kept him who knows what he would play like. His heart hasn't been in it for a while and he knew that whatever happened at the end of the season someone would come along and make an offer. All I can say is good luck to him.
Now for us onwards and upwards.

Yes a fair price and the right decision to sell. I don't think Bent's heart has been in it for some time, and its clear he wanted to go...so let him go. I just hope for his sake he doesn't end up like Richard Wright and Darren Ambrose, as I don't think he is a good as he himself likes to think.

Yeah fair price, nothing we could have done to keep him, he wanted to leave and wanted to be playing Premiership football so good luck to him.

Do we get a "seal on clause" because Darren can balance a ball on his nose?

Completely agree! People are slagging him on but not looking at the stats!!
He was a target for Charlton last summer for £3million. A year later, may I add it has been a year in which he has become a regular in the England Under-21's has scorred an extremely impressive 19 goals and an even more impressive 14 assists. So how, after all of this has his price dropped?? To quote Dazza 'It's a joke!"

No, but he has just found a club to suit him.
