Skard Op

Vemund Brekke-Skard is to undergo surgery before beginning his Town career in January.

The 24-year-old Norwegian midfielder has agreed an 18 month contract with the Club after impressing during a trial period at Portman Road.
That contract will kick off in January's transfer window following extensive discussions between the football authorities over whether Vemund was classed as an amateur or professional during his time with Norwegian Second Division club Brumunddal.

Vemund is currently training with Town and after undergoing a medical, it was revealed that he was carrying a minor groin problem.

"It's something that has not stopped Vemund playing in Norway and he has been training fine and could play games here as well," Town physio Dave Williams told the Club website.

"It's been a long-term injury but we have taken him to see a specialist and he says that a groin repair will be necessary at some stage.
"We have not nailed a date for the surgery yet but it's likely to be next week and will mean Vemund being out for a month to six weeks.

"It's an operation that could have been carried out at the end of the season but with Vemund not clear to play until January anyway it makes sense to do it now.

"At the moment, he is 90-95 per cent capacity but if the operation goes okay - and there is no reason to think otherwise - he will be 100 per cent by the start of the new year."[/quote]

That's nice and neat. I wonder if he would have had the op if he had clearance to play already ?

If he is the good prospect that we think then it will be nice to have him fully fit rather than hospitalised the first time he gets his studs stuck in the mud.

We can wait - right now we have plenty of m/f options.

Agreed, what we most need now is a decent partner for Bam Bam!

Is Nash a possibilty? I don't know much about him other than his injury history. Any chance that he would play in central defence (once he is fit) over JR moving Wilnis to the center?
