sh*t ground, no fans.

I didn't like it at all. It looked really great from the outside but there was no atmosphere at all. Probably not helped by the fact that the home fans areas were almost empty.

Good pics Gaz.

i thought that as well. It was very odd. And that massive wall of white to our left was weird as well. It was like someone built a shopping centre and decided to build a stadium on the side as an afterthought. The stadium roof leaked as well

The fans were shocking as well. 90 % chavs who didnt sing anything until their equaliser when it was like they had just won the FA cup. There were a few punch ups and arrests too

Good pics gaz

Looks like the stands behind the goals are a long way from the pitch, bit of a shame considering (I think) it's a purpose built stadium :?

Edit: Actually, looking again, it looks like none of the stands are very close to the pitch, that's even more of a shame. Has it been built with conversion of use (to athletics possibly) in mind?

Nothing like it at all Phil. I love the Majeski (sp) at Reading. That is probably one of my favourite grounds. This new Coventry one doesn't come anywhere near that for atmosphere and comfort.

Atmosphere and Madjeski should not be in the same sentence.

Thats exactly what i thought , there is a red bit of what looks like running track in front of where we were sitting but it has no lines and is nowhere near wide enough.

this is an interesting topic, especially considering the lecture I had today.

Apparently Coventry City have suffered over the years from bad sports marketing. the relations between the club and the fans is very poor and City are suffering now as a result. some examples of the stupid things they have tried to do is:

- converting Highfield Rd to the first ever all-seater stadium, then ripping the seats out again a few months later.

- bumping up ticket prices so that they include a "free programme"

- selling double match tickets. for example, if you wanted to see City play a big team in the mid-nineties you'd be forced to also purchase a ticket for the next home game against norwich

add to this the lack of identity that many people in Coventry feel they have and a team that has, despite many years in the Premier League, ALWAYS been near the bottom of whichever league they're in - and you've got a recipe for consistently poor attendances.

As for the ground, the big windows you saw in the stand to your left on saturday were actually hotel rooms. work that out. but on the plus side, if anyone likes a gamble the new casino inside the Arena will sort you out.

Didnt they change their logo last season as well without telling the fans ?
