Sam Parkin has emerged as the latest injury worry and could be out for weeks after suffering an ankle injury during the early stages of the defeat by Reading.

The striker was forced off after only 17 minutes of the 3-0 loss to Steve Coppell's high flying Royals at Portman Road.

The former Swindon player left the ground on crutches with Town boss Joe Royle telling the Club website "We will have more of an idea on Wednesday but it doesn't look good.

"The physio team tell me it's a ligament injury and that could mean weeks on the sidelines."

Have to say, that actually feels like good news

Which is a terrible thing to say......but it might force Royle to choose someone with a chance of actually scoring.

Sad to say, I'm relieved. Let Proudlock and Forster play together, they look like a much better pairing, powerful, quick, strong, CAN HEAD THE BALL.

Sorry guys, but with the greatest of respect I think that's bollocks. I think that a lot of us underestimate Parkin badly. (See many earlier threads ).

Only way there might be a silver lining is if we get in a decent loanee but didn't the deadline for doing this just expire ?

If so then we have Proudlock (looking good I'll admit) and Bowditch (waste of space) and Mini Mac, (promising but not yet ready for a regular place).

How exactly can that be good news ?

I'll answer that by saying our best "striker" last night was Richard Naylor - most shots on goals, best chances, best play.

Go figure.

I certainly never underestimated him. In fact to date he has proved my
thoughts to be right. I.e. Rubbish. I dont expect everyone to agree with
me but the fact Joe is now saying himself we need another striker
(and not because of injury problems) perhaps Joe to is now underestimating him?? I think not.

If there was anything, I mean anything that fans have seen from him this year that will give us confidence to let us assume he is gonna be a success
will someone please let me know what it is..

I agree Earl.I have not seen Parkin do anything exceptional since he has been with us. In fact, has he done anything? He has not adjusted to the Championship as everyone thought he would.

I think the only reason Joe plays him is because he cost us money whereas most of the others are on loan or came on a free transfer.

Forster had to be the best, he had our ONLY shot on goal...
