Royle Out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I've always said - first of all I was very much in the minority but it's interesting that in the last few weeks a lot more people are questioning his managership.
Enough has already been written about last night - I'll just add that you could almost smell the fear of our players when they walked onto the pitch last night, and it showed........time and time again they just let Reading run and run with the ball, nobody wanted to take any responsibility. But can you blame them when the manager's idea of motivation for a home game is to field the most negative formation he could..........what sort of message does that give to the players?? No, they're not the most gifted set of players in the division, but they're capable of a hell of a lot better than last night, they just need the right motivation and tactics.
I saw a post by the-mole which suggested that we get Bobby Robson in as a short term measure - not a bad idea but one which needs modifying slightly. What we really need is a young manager who will give chances to and get the best out of the young talent we have. We all know Magilton wants to go into coaching..........it's been said that he wants to return to the midlands but I bet he'd jump at the chance to have a go here.
So get Royle out, tell Jim his playing days are over and give him the manager's job, and get Bobby Robson in for 18 months to mentor him.

Is that a band wagon? I'll jump on it, we have the team, now they need the motivation and Royle is lacking in it.

Firstly I agree with Rossi, I dont think Royle is crap, I just think its time to start planning for the next 5 years and Royle wont be around for that long.
But the main point I wanna say is the the comment above
"we have the team". Which I disagree with. If these young players could do the job JR would be playing them, but we DONT have the team because the players cant do the job.

I find it hard to actual believe we DONT have the team, purely because WHAT CHANCE have we actually given them..

Sorry I feel we have a team that if given the correct guidance could be up in the top six at the moment.
They all seem so negative this season.

In theory a good idea, in practical terms ,never gonna happen.

Nail hit firmly on head, Earl.
What is the purpose to this season? What is the plan? Where are the long term benefits? Do we really believe that DeVos, Horlock, Magilton, Currie, Wilnis are the future!
IMHO we need to write off this season, but blood as many youngsters as we can, we a view of being a force in the future! Most supporters would be more patient with home grown youngsters as opposed to journey man pros at the end of their careers who clearly don't give a sh*t!

Peters and MacDonald started out well but their form dipped, the only youngster to come in and do well is Garvan, and he gets a starting place.
If they're good enough they do get the chance.... but there not!

Sorry boss man, the air must be a bit thin up there today, because that is rubbish!
Joe has played these lads as one offs in a struggling team, and even if they have a good game, Garven aside their reward is often not even a place on the bench next match.
Example, McDonald brilliant against Sheff Wed & Derby, didn't even make the 16 for the following games!
Richards looks good on the left, so Royle either drops him, or moves him to the middle to make him look sh*t again! Young Haynes looked promising at Leeds, can't have that drop him and pick horlock.
Joe selections and sustitutions this term, have sometimes defied belief

Dazza - royle has never been a fan of youth and would much rather stick out a bunch of older guys than rely on younger talent!!
Yes some of the youngsters haven't always been on top form - but that goes for the whole bloody team!!! Yet the old boys are still playing. McDonald has impressed me when he has been involved - yet they are talking about shipping him out!
Royle has constantly picked defensively minded sides this season, these teams have been poor, lacking in discipline and seem to have no clue what so ever. Now our youth side looks like a team who know each others games well and who can play a bit. Which is more than can be said of the first team - so why not give the youngsters a go - all of them!! Can they do any worse probably not!!

...and where do you propose this flat broke Club of ours gets the money to pay off JR and get Robson in ?

Come on Dazza, we played well against Sheffield and won, and played better against Derby and only failed to win, because we can't defend! McDonald's pace and movement made a significant contribution to those good performances.
IMHO if Parkin, had played half as well this season as McDonald did in those two games, he wouldn't be called a donkey!

As has been said, we surely couldn't do any worse. We neeeed to start winning games convincingly and to stop playing ONE PERSON UPFRONT AT HOME IT'S JUST WRONG!!!!

how any1 can play one upfront at home is unusal, we played a bit better wiv 2 upfront
and the last time we play 451 we lost 4 - 0 at home to preston.
theswe hoof ball tactics are not working, we no that , pass the friggin ball, back to basics really

I dont think royle should or will go this season. However at the end of the season i wouldnt be surprised if he went. Let someone else take the reins, have pre season to get the team together.

Let's get this straight...............I admit I've got a few bob, but even if I could raise £6-8 million to take control of the club it would be a pretty stupid thing for me to do given the fact that I'd effectively be buying £30 million worth of debt. But I couldn't raise that much anyway, and I've never said I could.
My whole point is that it's the job of the directors to fund the long term interests of the club. I don't know how much Royle is on, but I'm sure as hell that it would be cheaper in the long run to pay Royle off now and get a new management team in, rather than possibly suffer a much reduced income from attendances in the next few seasons. The directors of the club are directors by choice, and they should realise that directorship isn't all about dining extravagently before matches and the like but that sometimes it is their responsibility as directors to put their hands in their pockets.

I'm not sure if it would be that stupid Rossi. Don't forget that the huge majority of that debt is supposed to be financed by increased attendances. Another couple of million available for new players (& of course settling JRs contract) could be just what is needed to keep up those attendances and improve our chances of promotion. Then a 5 year view might see a significant income on that investment
Of course at the end of the day it would be just a gamble
Personally I'm surprised that there are not more new investors in football since there are very many people out there rich enough to have 10 million in their back pockets as small change.
I guess multi-millionaires are generally not football fans.
Do we have any cases of big lottery winners taking control of football clubs ?

Spot on Rossi, and we will continue to struggle for as long as the current board are unable, or unwilling to provide the working capital that the business requires to move forward. However, if alternative investors cannot be found, then unfortunately I fear we had better get used to life as it is now.
