Portsmouth look set to pursue their interest in Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock.
Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric is understood to have set his sights on the Blades boss after Thursday's sacking of Alain Perrin, although the South Yorkshire side are likely to pull out all the stops in a bid to keep him at Bramall Lane.
United chairman Kevin McCabe has already expressed his dismay that Portsmouth have gone public about their bid to snare Warnock, saying: "What I've read is improper. It can cause unrest and I don't like it.
"Should we make The Premiership we'd be talking about a new contract for Warnock. If we're in The Championship we'll probably extend the old one."
Meanwhile, Blades defender David Unsworth has expressed fears that his present boss may be tempted to the South Coast, where Pompey are reportedly prepared to double his present pay-packet.
"This rumour does not seem to go away," he said. "With the events that have happened it looks more and more likely to come true.
"I want Neil to stay but you cannot ignore the speculation."
Mandaric's wanted list is also understood to include such names as Roy Keane, Bobby Robson, David Pleat and Ian Dowie.
Is the premiership ready for Warnock???

Well the way things are going it is probably going to get him one way or the other
You would have to question why he would want to go to Pompey though - other than the money of course as it is not the most inspiring place to find yourself - Sheffield Utd on the up, Pompey on the slide - should be a no brainer, but..............

I'm sure Warnock lives (or has a home) in the west country so you never know???
