Best's Round of applause!!!

Just wanted to say that the round of applause he received instead of a minutes silence was a far greater remembrance for the man!!!
It is sad that he died so young and no doubt his years of drinking etc ultimately caught up with him. He was the first pop-star footballer who had the spotlight forced upon him. Unlike todays stars he didn't have a support team backing him up. He didn't have the PR team, the phsycologists etc - he was left to fend for himself.
I tried explaining to my sister that the round of applause was purely based on the footballer he was. He was questionnably the best player ever. And is up there with the best of them, Pele and Maradona. The round of applause was a tribute to the genuis that was George Best and served better than a minutes silence ever could.
I am too young to have seen him play live, but seeing him on TV his football memory will live on and he still be seen as an inspiration for years to come.
