Ok we've all been saying lets get in a young manager who will have a 3 or 4 year plan to get us back into the premiership with our youngsters. Sounds good on paper... but is this what we really need? I'm starting to think we need an experienced manager who can do well in a relagation dog fight...

IMO we need both, bring in an experienced chap with a younger assistant who could be groomed to take the role on, giving us stability into the medium term future.

How about Robson & Mowbrey

On paper I believe we have a squad who shouldn't be fighting relegation. Therefore I believe we should be looking to build for the future. Royle hasn't been about building like Burley did before him. Royle has been about patching up and fingers crossed. This is short sighted and is now leaving us in a dangerous position.

I think we need to look long term and build for the future. So we might not get relegated this season, but where does that leave us next season? No further forward, a few less experienced players and a few youngsters still not experienced enough for get stuck in.

To me it is one and the same, building whilst fighting relegation. The character and experience the youngsters could gain from this season would make them stronger better players long term. However the leadership needs to be right, which at present is far from happening. Too many people have gotten too comfortable at this club and it is time to shake things up, a shake up which should have happened when we got relegated!!

Dazza you make me laugh ! . When BFJ joined a couple of seasons or so back he was a God, and when I expressed my doubts about his appointment I came in for fair amount of flak on this site I can tell you.

We all knew Town would struggle this season, and as I said earlier in the season we look like relegation fodder, and I do hope I'm wrong. But I really can't blame the state of the team on BFJ. From the word go he was up against it, with the club going straight into admin pretty much as he took over. Once again did Sheepy tell him the truth in the interview ?.

So really, the person who needs removing is Sheepy, as it is he who appointed BFJ, and brought our club to its knee's.

Just to finish I would like Tony Mowbray as the next Ipswich manager.

whilst I agree with what you say mole....I think the crucial difference between the two managers' situations is , one had loads of money ...the other has zilch ...hence the "patching up and crossing of fingers" !!

I'm a massive fan of JR, always have been always probably will be. I just think its time we looked at the future, if JR wants to stay around for another 3 or 4 years then fine, lets get him and start building. If not, lets get someone in now, because this season isnt going to plan and we should use it as a starting block.

Actually Hallam if you exclude the premiership Burley had no money either. He was always forced to sell before he could buy. My point is, Burley would give youth a go before going out and buying someone. ROyle would rather bring in Dad's Army then give too many of our youngsters a blast. Burley was slowly building the squad for our play off success and obviously the season that followed. Royle has been patching up with short term replacements since he got here chap.

Burley knew the only way to get the youngsters to a standard where they could compete was to throw them in. We saw the likes of Tony Vaughan, Wayne Brown, Richard Wright, Richard Naylor, Scowcroft, titus bramble, Kieron Dyer, Darren Ambrose and Darren Bent given a chance. The players he brought in (mowbray apart) were players who would be here for the longer term - David Johnson, Jamie Clapham & Fabian Wilnis. Yes those players cost money but that was through enforced player sales. Rather than patch it up he looked to improve the squad with every player sale and purchase.

Potato head is not the man for Ipswich, with such a crop of young players (we won the bloody FA Youth Cup for Cliffs sake!!!) we should be seeing more of these players making an impact. I am getting a bit tired of the dads army gravey train birgade..... there is no way if George was in charge we would be in this position!!

If we could get Georgie back I would be delighted, if not it would be great to see big Terry Butcher.... then I would rather have Mr Blobby and Noel Edmonds than Royle and Sheepshanks!!
