Simon Jordan has blasted Fifa for forcing clubs to release World Cup-bound players before the domestic season has ended.

The governing body have demanded that players heading for Germany next summer should be released from their club commitments on May 15.

But, with the 2006 Championship play-off final set to take place on Sunday May 21, the unhappy Crystal Palace chairman is furious at the prospect of losing key players such as Andy Johnson to international commitments.

"Fifa prod the stick and take players away from clubs on May 15 - it's an outrage," he told Sky Sports News.

"I don't know how [Fifa president Sepp] Blatter can come up with it at this stage of the season and disadvantage the domestic game which, whilst international football is extremely important, is the bedrock of football."

What exactly is your problem with the guy, Dubz? At the end of the day, he's only speaking up on behalf of pretty much all of us against the unfair way in which FIFA handles the game at the lower levels...

The guy seems to think they will be in the playoffs.

He blasted us a year ago when we tried to get one of their players on loan (Sean Derry if memory serves) and his response was "Ipswich are claiming poverty, well why can't they sell Darren Bent?"

Would he have done the same with AJ - bollocks would he

Although this comment by Jordan is not his most stupid i do think he is generally a tw*t. From all ive heard about him and how he acts he is a f-ing knobber and is up his own arse cos he owns a football club or whatever. Also aparantly he like to see himself as a right geezer/wheeler/dealer type. He should just shove off.

And then the next week we shelled out 450k on Currie. So Jordan was obviously right, He knew we had a little bit to spend. He didnt want to let his player go for 0

Simon Jordan restores my faith that there are people who care about football in the upper levels of the game. Yeah he speaks him mind, and yeah he sometimes comes across as a tw*t, but so would you if you were Chairman of the club you supported. And he's the only Club owner in the UK who has publicly stated his support for the return of terraces. He's not all bad...
