Ajax youngster Robbert Schilder is likely to have impressed Ipswich boss Joe Royle on Monday.
Royle jetted over to the Netherlands on Monday to take in the reserve encounter between Ajax and Twente.
The Portman Road boss is scouring the market for a striker and said he was heading over to assess potential recruits.
Ajax secured victory and it was Schilder who caught the eye with a brace of goals in the 2-0 success.
It is not clear what Ajax's plans are for the youngster, but a loan switch could appeal to all parties.
Royle's striking woes increased further this week as teenage forward Billy Clarke dislocated an elbow in a reserve clash with Portsmouth and is set for a six-week spell of inactivity.
