The 'cash' signing of Gavin Williams

Dont get me wrong he hasn't done badly since hes been here but he is average at best and certainly no better than Currie, Jim, Westy, Garvan etc and why the hell do we need to spend money on another run of the mill midfielder when we already have about 10, when we need strikers and defenders far more urgently, bit stupid IMO

wouldnt it be cheaper and more effective to keep him on loan for rest of season, with a view to signing permanently end of season

Say we spend 250k on him (random made up figure)for this transfer, and yet hes on 5k a week for loan.....from now until end of season May? 18 weeks = 18x5 =90,000 -saving 160k from buying him permanently

with that 160k we could bring in more loan players

Ahh, but isnt there an FA rule which states that players over 25 cant be loaned for more than 3 months??
