Wigan letting these 2 go....

Wigan release Henchoz & Thompson

Henchoz has 71 Swtizerland caps
Wigan have released defender Stephane Henchoz and midfielder David Thompson.
Manager Paul Jewell signed Henchoz, 35, who built a solid defensive partnership with Arjan de Zeeuw, on a one-year contract at the start of the season.

Thompson, 28, joined from Blackburn in the January transfer window on a short-term deal and scored the last goal of Wigan's campaign at Arsenal.

"It was a tough decision, but I've just thought for next season we will try something different," said Jewell.

"Stephane has played a major part in our season, in particular at the start of the season when his experience was crucial.

"He has been an absolute model professional.

"Thommo is a good little player, but he has found it difficult, in particular as he has had a couple of niggly injuries.

"But he is very unlucky because you could see what he's capable of at Arsenal."

Reto Ziegler, who joined the Latics on loan from Spurs in January for the remainder of the season, has returned to White Hart Lane

David Thompson is the kinda player we've been crying out for, he can pass (which means it probably rules him out of a move to us with BFJ still in charge) and boy can he tackle....plus he gets his fair share of goals, just needs to stay injury free

Haha famous last word loud and proud....showed plenty of determination not to in this area....both sound like they'd be good acquisitions...henchoz on the same one year deal wigan had him on - although whats his pace like these days?? thompson sounds the goods - part of our defensive problem...well crisis...or armageddon would be more appropriate is that the midfield dont help out - our keeper and central defenders can only do so much

BTW which of the blue shirted figures on your avatar is you mate?? :D
