Booking Ipswich Home Tickets - Apr 2015
Hi
I am an armchair ITFC fan from the south west and am hoping to make my very first trip to Portman road maybe one of the following games:
v blackpool sat 11 april
V Forest sat 25 april
Can anyone please advise:
1. How i go about booking tickets? Do i need to register/How far in advance are tickets on sale
2. Ideas of things to do in Ipswich (Bars/museums/shows)?
Many Thanks!

You can register on via the ITFC site to buy tickets when they go on general sale which is around 3/ 4 weeks prior to the game , as for bars the drum and monkey just outside is busy with home fans before a game but quite a few dotted about just dont go to the station hotel away fans haunt on match days. As for shows check out the Ipswich regent online or the Wolsey Theater both not far from the ground.
Depending where is the SW you are traveling from look at around 3 1/2 hours Poole to 4 hours from Tauton or 5-6 if Plymouth and just add time as required if further down in the SW

thanks frostynz!
So, the tickets are nearly due to go on sale for the forest game that i am hoping to attend. i am seeking some advice on which is the best stand to get tickets. i guess im looking for the one with the best view of the stadium and with the best atmosphere...
I thoughts perhaps the east of england stand so can maybe be near the dugouts, but then if i go for alf ramsey stand then i can look at the impressive east of england stand!
Also i assume the club shop is open before and after the game?
all advice appreciated.
many thanks

The club shop is open both before and after the game , if you want to go for atmosphere the NS (Bobby robson) lower is best for that..being at the end you dont have the best view if play at the other end...but all seats offer a full view.
As i,m sure you may well know the ground is a very short walk from the town centre , just follow the crowd so to speak near match time.
If your on the train it,s very easy , you will see the ground straight away when you come out..if by car quite a few parking sites around , but it takes a bit of time to get out post the game,
shout on here if any specifc questions , i,m sure you will get a asnwer

NS lower has the atmosphere but be prepared to stand up .
Upper tiers has the best views as you are looking at the play higher up and can see more of the off ball moves by the players.
I think the Forrest game would be the more entertaining game but the Blackpool game MIGHT produce more goals.
Hope you have a good time at PR and will see a winning game for the blues.

Thanks guys. maybe NS stand but up a tier... so we are close to the atmosphere with a good view...
me and the missus will be travelling up the night before and staying either at pentahotel or premier inn - any suggestion on which is best pls let me know! - both are very close but im thinking premier inn as its the side of the river closer to the bars..
i cant attend the day of the blackpool game unfortunately. i was hoping that game would be the decide for auto promotion v play offs - but its not looking that way
- but keep the faith right!
if anyone is aware of any events going on on that friday night or the saturday after the game in portman road area then pls let me know!
cheers

having thought some more... i think id rather go for one of the stands not at either end.. so im more central and get to see a more central view of the match. so cobbold or east of anglia.

If it's a sunny day you can be forever squinting to get a decent view from the lower parts of the Cobbold Stand. Play safe and go for the East of England!collinsc wrote:having thought some more... i think id rather go for one of the stands not at either end.. so im more central and get to see a more central view of the match. so cobbold or east of anglia.
