Daryl Murphy has reached 10 league goals faster than any Town player since Ray Crawford in the 1968/69 season.
Murphy hit his ninth and 10th goals in Town’s 16th match - his 15th as he missed the Blackburn fixture - Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Wolves, while Crawford reached the same total after 12 games of the 1968/69 campaign.
Previously, Crawford (1960/61 and 1963/63) and his equally legendary strike partner Ted Phillips (1961/62) hit the 10-goal mark after only 11 matches, a club record.
Prior to this season Marcus Stewart was quickest to the 10-goal mark in the 2000s, getting there in 17 games of Town’s UEFA Cup-qualifying 2000/01 Premier League season.
Well done Daryl Murphy.

Impressive & unbelievable all rolled into one. If I was asked to guess an answer to that statistic, I would've said Mariner in the early 80's. Well done Daryl, keep it going.

Well you'll never believe it Derek but that's exactly where it came from, I just thought it was worthy of some recognition and discussion. Unfortunately not much of that happens on here these days and most threads just fizzle out after a handful of one liners.

I for one thank anyone who posts stuff to discuss......, especially as I don't read these TWTD or EADT things. So it's good to read this kind of thing.
It's also very important to have a mixture of discussion, debate and maybe some humour. There are some highly intelligent people who post on here, with lengthy posts of opinions on how the club is being run, performances etc etc......, and it's all excellent to read. Have to say though...... If it was only that and nothing else, then....., no disrespect to Earl Blue, but it could potentially become the most boring f**king football website on the Internet. This is the main reason I approached Frosty with a Caption Competition for the previews....., to maybe inject some life, humour into the place. Even that's not going as well as I'd hoped but I'll monitor that, maybe have a winner by New Year if it's the usual suspects having a go.
Personally I think it's the social media sites that are taking people away from forums like this. Even a few Hibs sites have lost some classic members. They probably set aside "Internet time" for themselves, but before long, they've spent too long watching 6 second videos on FB and Twatter, there is no time left for some sports chat. Well that's my theory.
Back to the topic........, I think praise for Bluemike as well as he saw the potential in Daryl when almost everyone else on here was saying he's a lump and needed emptied. I suppose he just needed the correct surroundings for him to shine through.

You're absolutely right Marko, Bluemike has been pretty much paddling upstream on his own in his support for Murphy and whilst I've never been one of the anti- Murphy brigade, I've never been one to particularly sing his praises either. However I'm absolutely delighted to see him doing so well which is just desert for all his hard work and graft for the benifit of the team. Long may it continue.

Good post Charny, I missed that on TWTD. I agree Bluemike deserves a lot of credit for backing Murph; I have to admit, I thought Murphy was an ordinary player. It's amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a player. I'd like to see McGoldrick step up now, and make ITFC's strikers top scorers.

Hunty reveals on back page of today's Ipswich Star that Murpy's new nickname is......'Murphlinho'! (Goes nicely with.....'Joniesta'). A little insight to the great spirit within the club - not Barmy Billy in his fortune telling booth in SBR stand!

Blimey is this the Bluemike love in LOL. I am often wrong on things, well no actually I'm not,

but yes I have always rated Murph and I am as chuffed as nuts that he is getting his moment in the limelight, it is very well deserved.

Take a well deserved bow, Mike! Can't for the life of me understand why so many doubted you
