He's playing for our Under 21 side as a trialist against Southampton tonight.

Well he made the mistake which cost us the game apparently. They lost so out of the cup.

Are we still tracking him? There was a time we came close to signing him, which did get me mildly excited. But now, I'm not so sure

I'll be amazed if he's match fit, he's not played any decent standard of competitive football in ages. I think the last games he played were in 2013 when he turned out half a dozen times on loan at Millwall where they rejected an option to take him from Leicester. I think it would have to be one hellava serious emergency for him to be of any use to us. Steer clear would be my advice.

He's just tweeted that after so many years of speculation, he's finally put on a town shirt and it felt good.

We shall see where it leads

I seem to recall it was he who rejected a move to Ipswich a few years back not the other way round.

We weren't good enough for him then, why should we want him now. The only reason it feels good to him to pull on a Town shirt now is because no-one else want him.

f*ck off St Ledger is what I say.

I'm not necessarily against that viewpoint

Give the guy a break, he is unfit and having a trial, not played for a while.

We need back-up to maintain a strong team for push into New Year, and if Mick and Terry think he can help us then good enough for me.

I agree as well, but he has to prove himself, and not be anothe coullson and just make the numbers up.
But he is a bit hypocritical saying "at last i can put the Ipswich shirt on" As people have said, is it that he's only said that because no-one else wants him?

My tuppence ha'penny worth......., when players are linked and they end up going elsewhere, there are always various reasons why, mainly cash. But certainly not just cash....., family, kids schools, etc etc. But it's a short career, they need to make as much dough as possible when in their prime. I personally can't stand that "not good enough for you before, so why now" type of thinking. It's very juvenile in my opinion. If he is still a decent player, then he can only do a job for ITFC and that's all that matters really.
Maybe that was 50pence worth.

I agree with Don, nothing to do with not wanting him because he went elsewhere but more that he was once a decent enough player who seems to have drifted away for one reason or another, the fact nobody else wants him speaks volumes. Not over excited by this story.

Im inclined to think leave well alone. I know he rejected us a few seasons back and i hope its not for that im saying this. Seriously though if Mick and Terry run an eye over him and give him the nod, well that will do for me.

Maybe I've been a bit harsh on the guy, but I know for sure he was unpopular at Leicester City where he never made an impact, and fell out big time with manager Nigel Pearson. Before joining Leicester he was on loan at Middlesbough who had agreed a transfer deal with Preston but he fell out with Boro manager Gordon Strachan and the deal collapsed. After Leicester he went on loan to Millwall who had an option to buy him but they decided against it, and pre season he was on trial at Huddersfield who were rumoured to have agreed a deal which they pulled out of.

In my book we should steer well clear of this fella who's only played 42 Championship games since the start of 2001/12 season and most definitely won't be match fit and therefore unlikely to be of any use for short term cover for Mings / Berra.

I really don't see any need apart from him pulling in some earnings at our expense.

Any chance of getting McCauley back here from WBA he's not first choice anymore, but would be a bloody good back up for our push to the promised land, he's better than St Ledger in my opinion.

I well remember St Ledger being touted as a very useful player not that long ago, then it all seemed to turn bad. Did he turn us down or did Leicester pull the plug? There seems to be contrasting views on this. It has also beem implied that he may have some sort of personality issue and if this is correct, he has picked the wrong person if he thinks he can take on MM and win. Some that have gone before will confirm that.

You don't lose talent overnight and it may well be that MM sees something he can work with. Trust MM and give St Ledger an opportunity I say. We may be pleasantly surprised: people can and do change you know.

He turned us down for big bucks at Leicester. Ive heard he has a bit of an attitude problem which would fit with his tendency to fall out with people in the game.

Give a wide berth is what I think. According to many we have a great dressing room at the moment, let's keep it that way.

I like Ashfords suggestion about MacAuley, he would be a great signing for us.

Wrong again Charney he has signed until the end of December.

I'm not wrong at all Derek, in my opinion we've just chucked money down the toilet like we so often do with our short term deals, it's almost as if we have money to burn. It will take St Ledger till the end of December to get match fit.

Maybe McCarthy felt sorry for him and thought he needed some money.

That's a rather bizarre observation Mike which couldn't be further from the truth. In fact if you'd read my comments since McCarthy joined us you'd realize that I'm totally in favour of him and always have been. Any criticism or adverse comment would always be justified, but if it was a simple for or against there's only one camp I'd always sit in, at least for the time being.

Maybe you're simply suffering from selective reading or maybe sitting at home bored and looking to provoke either an argument or debate. But to be honest mate, if you're looking to pick on someone who's anti MM you're wasting your time poking me.

In fact didn't one of my most recent posts suggest that given how well we were doing I'd like to see MM given some help from ME in the January transfer window to support a push for promotion.

I think you're losing the plot Mike.

LOL...Me losing the plot, I merely asked a question and youve gone into a sermon Andy, I just find it a pretty childish statement to ask if MM thinks St.Ledger needs some money, that is hardly a positive post regarding the managers judgement on a player, you also say we continue to throw money down the toilet, again hardly a glowing bit of praise for MM. And as for being bored at home, no mate I am still working my two jobs while others sit on here all day and night.

And yes you did ask about whether ME could give MM some more money we dont have, I recall that one. We also now have a player at our club that a few posts ago you told to f**k off.

If you'd have merely asked the question "was I anti MM" ?....... I could have given you a one word answer. But no, your question was a sarcastic, I guess using your words childish.... "Aren't we doing well enough"? (and next you'll try telling me this wasn't said to provoke a response).

Obviously you don't see short term contracts as a waste of money, I do, it's as simple as that. I don't for one minute think MM would choose to operate in this way, I suspect it's a policy imposed on him.

As for the St Ledger deal, by choice I'd prefer not have that fella anywhere near my football club. It maybe living in Leicester I'm more aware of reasons why I feel this way and I'm unlikely to change my opinion, although given the opportunity to get "back to work" maybe he'll be a changed man, only time will tell.

By the way Mike, I love your comment about people staying on here all day and all night, that's brilliant from one Bluemike with over 12855 posts in little over 5yrs. The most prolific current poster on TB.com.... that really brought a smile.
