I didnt see that one coming so soon, I wonder where that leaves us and Jonny Williams.Neil Warnock has become the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season after being dismissed by Crystal Palace.
The 66-year-old joined the Eagles for a second time in August 2014, following the departure of Tony Pulis.
The move follows Crystal Palace's 3-1 defeat at home against Southampton on Boxing Day.
Palace currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone, one point below 17th placed Hull City.
Warnock won just three of his 16 Premier League games in charge.
The Sheffield-born manager was in his second spell as manager of the Selhurst Road club.
More to follow.

Never guessed this one either..! but i would think that's it for Town and JW to be honest. A shame but hopefully Bru and Ambrose will fill any gaps in MF , at least Darren had a go at getting shots in in the few minutes he got on the pitch.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
The one time he did any good was with Sheffield United, when he put together a decent squad that reached a few cup semi-finals and beat some very good sides in those runs. Was never able to replicate that success with subsequent clubs. Sorry to see him out of a job, and wish him well with his endeavors for further employment.

Big mistake letting Pulis go to begin with. I'm not sure Warnock's a premiership manager anyway. As far as JW is concerned, I don't think we need him now. CP have had four managers in about a year, haven't they?

I have a lot of time for Warnock and think he is a good manager. I also think Palace job was a poisoned chalace for whoever took over.
I think Warnock speaks from the heart and is very entertaining. He has spoken before about retiring from the game: it will be a shame if he does.

That thought had crossed my mind also. His family home is in South London. However, as BB says, managing C Palace is the gold-plated poisoned chalice. Can't imagine why Mick would even consider it, should the call come. ITFC v CP - no contest!jaykay wrote:all the refs fault.hope they dont come looking for mick

Agreed, football is much better with these characters. I hope he doesn't decide to finally call it a day.
A strange decision by the board though. I mean has he even had a transfer window to get things assembled?

Rumour has it Pulis is to return to Palace. Wouldn't be a bad choice tbh.

I bet Palace wish they'd never allowed the situation to develop which led to Tony Pulis walking out on them at the start of the season.
Before he left TP's win rate was 42.3% compared to Neil Warnock's miserable 18.8%.
Personally I think it's another example of a good Championship manager not being good enough for The Premieship.

Tim Sherwood also rumoured to be a strong contender.
If TP did return, however, it would presumably be on his terms; including over the issues which led him to quit originally. Would that be acceptable to the CP Board? Desperate times, desperate measures etc! Hope Warnock stays in the game. If not, he will get plenty of TV work - something he's very good at.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
Looking highly likely that Alan Pardew will leave Newcastle United and take over at Palace as early as tomorrow. Pardew is rumoured to have already accepted the job on a basic salary of £1.5m which is almost double the £800k pa paid by Newcastle United. He will also receives £1m bonus if Palace avoid relegation. Not bad terms hey.

100% on board with Barmy,..... have a lot of time for Neil Warnock. No nonsense talker, and, when he's on TV moaning about refs, the incidents he's usually moaning about, he's completely correct. The game has moved on (for the worse, players being cheating bstds etc etc etc) the refs need to go back to school and be taught better ways on how to deal with this, them and their helpers.
PBB, Palace will indeed go down if Pardew takes over. My opinion of course.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
I too have always been a Neil Warnock fan, he's a bit like Marmite really, you either love him or hate him.
In my opinion he's a great Championship Manager and understands this league well and how to play it, but at the next level up in the Premiership he seems out of his depth.
I guess he's a prime example of my belief that successful Championship Managers don't always make good Premier League Managers.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
I do agree with that, but in my opinion, Its more obvious that it's the players themselves that are not good enough. In the EPL, it's all about how much cash the "manager" gets. Be interesting to see Mourinho in charge of Palace, and Warnock in charge of Chelsea. Only a f**king idiot would say Mourinho would take palace to the champions league. It's all money.

(Enter Idiot)
Is it all money? If you take us as an example, we've spent squit. In fact I'm pretty sure our entire side tonight cost nothing at all as Mings was on the bench (the more knowledgable amongst us will know for sure)
Whilst money certainly has a massive influence at times, there are certain other factors, especially the idea of building a "team" with a winning mentality. Something Jose is more than capable of doing. He oozes confidence, along with other things.
(For the record it wouldn't happen, just saying like)
But yes, If Colin retires, football will miss him.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
I thought the initial point was about championship and EPL differences? the current crop of ITFC players would not last a season in the EPL. My opinion, but that's besides the point.
Point I am trying to make is, as of right at this moment in time, 2014/15, (and regarding the EPL) any other Mourinho type manager would struggle to take Crystal Palace to the Champions League. I am 100% on board with the confidence thing, yes the manager needs to be a "winner"......, but there must be real ability in the team. Some managers out there are farting against thunder (but being paid handsomely) ....., 'Arry comes to mind. Very good manager in my opinion, but he is going to do absolutely f*ck all with the current QPR team.

Re: Warnock sacked by Palace.
I'm amazed Palace haven't confirmed Pardew's appointment, I can't think what's holding up the announcement unless he's having second thoughts.
