We played West Ham at home on this day in 2005 and Portman Road saw an attendance of over 30,000. I think that has only been duplicated once in the time since, although regular match-goers will be able to verify or give more definitive information.

Ten years on from that day, and while I don't expect the aforementioned figure to be broken, I would imagine a turn-out of 25,000 plus would be a reasonable estimation. One thing's for sure, this is a game of pivotal importance for both clubs and should be a match-up for the ages.

If its a cat A game it'll be more expensive. As Mike sats it's on sky and their bloody dictated time so id say the gate will be less than the Charlton game.

I'll be there tho!!

Great to see fans returning... not me unfortunately until next season when I will be back in Suffolk. This time to stay! I predict a gate of 25483. Will Sky cameras detract from the gate? Probably not too much as I think the buzz is back and it is a top and pivotal game.

If it was at the traditional start time of 3pm on a Saturday, I could envisage a turn-out of some 26,000 + but the earlier start will most likely diminish attendance. I think somewhere around 24,000 would be nearer the truth.

Yeah I am pleased for those who can't get to the game, dont get me wrong but in the past it has affected the attendance, maybe this time it wont, I am hearing it is due to be a good turn out again so fingers crossed.

I think the Sky revenue more than compensates any loss of income and shouldn't detract from a good atmosphere. It's fantastic for Town fans not living locally and good to see our football club generating media interest. I also think a good performance on TV will actually encourage more fans back to Portman Road, especially those who've drifted away over recent seasons.

Attendence 20,861

Probably as much to do with two home games in five days as it is tv coverage.

I was expected a higher turn-out than that. Yes we have to consider all the aforementioned aspects of todays game but for a fixture of such importance was thinking before play that there would be a greater number in attendance. (Derby brought 873 incidentally it mentions on TWTD)

Disappointing attendance for me although there looked a lot more than that in the ground.

Does anybody know what amount of money Town get for being on sky?

I think Championship clubs get something like £80k per match, a fraction of what a Premier League team receives (£750k).
