How much Spurs pay Assou-Ekotto to sit on the bench.

I've just read that Benoit Assou-Ekotto is being paid £40,000 a week by Tottenham despite not playing for the first team for more than 18 months.

The defender does not even train with the first-team squad these days as he prepares for a move in the January transfer window.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino excluded Assou-Ekotto from his first-team squad when he arrived at the club and doesn’t want him anywhere near his group.

How can football sustain itself whilst these sort of financial excesses exist ?

Surely this also adds to the problems for Championship Clubs trying to attract the Premier Leagues left overs and getting them to play in the next tier of English football?

I'm positive that is a prawn dish that my wife likes from the Chinese takeaway. I ask for it, the guy shouts, "ASSOU EKOTTO" through to the chef guy. Seriously, it sounds like that, I ain't joking.

£40K a week AND he doesn't have to train? I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. I wonder what he does with his time and money.

Hopefully there are still a few young lads out there with a special love for "football", and not the cash. Although I doubt it.
