I was sad to read that former Town forward Roger Wosahlo has died aged 67 after his unsuccessful battle with cancer.

He joined town from Chelsea in July 1967 and made one senior start and one sub appearance, while featuring regularly for the reserves, before moving on to Peterborough in July 1968.

He came back to Portman Road for a second spell a year later but was unable to add to his first-team appearances before he moved to South Africa.

He was subsequently involved with Ipswich Wanderers for more than 20 years and was very well known in the local football community.

RIP Roger and condolences to your family.

This is embarrassing but don't believe I've heard of this player before now. He's not even included on Wikipedia (?) so must have been a very obscure player. Seems he featured long before I took an interest in this club - and for a very brief time with it. In any event, sorry to hear of this passing and extent condolences to his immediate family at this difficult time.

To be fair SJ, he joined Town as a 20yr old from Chelsea in 1967 and whilst he played regularly in the reserves he only made a couple of full appearances for the first team.

His first was in 1967 against Huddersfield in the old Div2 and his second was in 1969 against Liverpool in Div1 after he returned to Town for a second spell after spending a year with Peterborough United.

I remember him quite well as I was a teenager at the time and spent a lot of time following Town at all levels including the youth team which included a few of my pals and the reserves.

if you weren't part of the local football scene back when Roger was around you may not have heard of him
