Ex Town boss Paul Jewell leaves WBA after a week in post....

Post by Charnwood » Fri Jan 16, 2015 9:53 am

They don't know how lucky they are.....

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis says there are no hard feelings in the wake of Paul Jewell's surprise departure from his backroom team.
Jewell left on Tuesday after being appointed by Pulis just a week earlier.
The 50-year-old has since claimed his exit was not by mutual consent and is taking legal advice.
"I wish Paul all the best, I still think he's a great lad. Good luck to him," Pulis said. "There's no hard feelings my way or the club's way."
Pulis, who intends to bring in a new assistant coach to replace Jewell, added: "I've got great respect for Paul, he's a tremendous lad and had been out of work for a long time.
"I offered him a job but it didn't work out. I was pleased to have him in and sad to see him leave so quickly."

Jewell has put the situation in the hands of his lawyers. He said "he never left by mutual consent" Strange one this, seems Pulis over spent on the assistant coach(s) budget and they asked him to take a pay cut after a week . So he left.

Why couldn't Jewell have quit / walked out / resigned (delete as appropriate) after seven days when he was manager at Portman Road ? Instead we had to endure that idiot for a whole eighteen months before he decided to move on, and the club suffered badly as a direct result of it.

Edit, don't think Idiot is the operative word, only frustrated in retrospect about how poor we were so often under his management. I think incompetent would be more appropriate.

Personally I don't think Jewell was that bad. He may have just underestimated the task that was required and not had the stomach for it in the end.

^ Can only be a wind up. ^

Yes he was better than RK, but then my next door neighbours dog would've been better than RK.

PJ was useless. IMO.

Apparently WBA got their sums wrong and had to ask Paul Jewell to take a pay cut, so he left and contacted his lawyers. Sound a bit shambolic.

Jewell should be happy WBA agreed to pay him anything! He was rubbish for Ipswich, and Keane was even worse!

You're right, he was useless, I just feel bad saying it because he wasn't anywhere near as much of a tit as RK is.

He's lucky he got more than a bowl of vegetable soup a week for pay if you ask me. Maybe he can go manage a team in the Mid East or something...

In actual fact Keane has a higher win ratio as Town manager than Jewell. And all for nearly the same amount of games played.

It also states that both the aforementioned names endured a better win percentage than John Lyall (!). Read it whichever way you like, but it's there in black and white.

I suppose at the end of the day, it's about results Saint Jude, and great that RK was better in that respect.

But after reading RK's book, can only assume he managed his teams with an element of fear instilled in the players. I do not doubt RK could've been "better" at ITFC, but he's just a complete knob as a person, and, IMO, management ain't his thing. Jewell, at Town, was just sh*t. Horrendous tactics, stupid substitutions at crazy times of the game (if memory serves) and hilarious, stuttery post match interviews. Fking clueless.

Aside from recognising Mick McCarthys excellent results performance at PR, just remembering RK & PJ should make everyone love Mick unconditionally! :D

BUT..........., at this moment of the season, Mick......., if you don't at least make the Play Offs, then you can get yerself tae fk!
